Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I get it, he does pull off good deals (while we also know there are examples of pushing it too far and missing out on players who would have improved us).

My issue is that it's easier to be a buyer negotiating the price down, knowing you can simply walk away and move onto another target if need be. Here, that's not the case as we really need to sell Aurier to bring another RB in, not to mention that he's hardly a hot property and it only seems to be AC Milan that are interested.

15 million euros, which is probably what we could get Castagne for considering he's down to the last year of his contract at Atalanta, and we should be doing this and moving on.
I think Aurier is gone, it's a matter of when and how much at this point, but I wonder how much Atalanta being in the CL is delaying this assuming Castagne is the #1 target.

Also, does pre-season start next Monday? That would be a 3-week break for the players, which I think is the minimum required.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel a sick sense of satisfaction when one of Levy’s failed transfers makes the difference at another club? #wrongfernandes. Willian watch this space...

Who Dragon1
When 10th August
Where COYS

there is not much happening that is not in the press

Holberg should be tomorrow, serge we are talking to Milan but still a way to go ,with Aarons coming in from from Norwich a strong possibility

We want 2 rb , lb , mid and a striker

Tanguy will only go if we get the 42 million back , the Korean defender is 50/50 happening

I can tell you now covid has has cost the club a lot there will not be mega signings on mega wages , we are looking at 5 different strikers as possible back up to Kane

Missing out on Europe, the Stadium, Not getting CL, Naming rights, Covid etc, etc...what really costs ‘the club’ (two words that infuriate me) is a lack of ambition. Get f**d.

Fair point on Atalanta's CL campaign. We're essentially limited in how much we can rush for Castagne while they're still in it. In an ideal world both deals need to be simultaneous so that we don't appear desperate on either front.

As Alasdair Gold has pointed out, our foreign player limit is maxed out for Euopean competition once Hojbjerg arrives. After that it needs to be one in, one out. I still thought we might have an interest in Aarons (even if we get Castagne in too) because of the HG thing but it feels like Norwich might be playing silly buggers over price tags making it a later-in-the-window deal.

And yes, IIRC it's Monday (in a week) that pre-season training begins. Can't knock the club for the expediency of the Hojbjerg deal.

When did we ever sign someone on mega wages Dragon? VdV the last I can remember. Please name someone more recent to back that statement!!!

And to follow up; why do the likes of Willian, Hazard, Dzeko, etc...feel they can’t come to us. When did we let ourselves go? I recall Modric, Bale and Berbatov had no issue...

I’m ageing myself here and tbf Willian and Hazard will have to justify themselves to their god when their racist, oligarch antisemite overlords come calling. But f**k me Carrick, Parker, Kanoute and Defoe were
good for us. Come along Declan...

Those don't leave the same sour taste that someone like Mane does.

Willian - he was willing but we let ourselves get played by a scummy player/agent combo with Chelsea an objectively bigger club to go to.

Hazard - depends how much you trust Harry Redknapp on this one. A legitimate Sliding Doors moment for us if true as he'd have come, Bayern would have won that final and we'd have had CL football.

It's borderline impossible for us to truly put our spurs bias to one side, but I think we can all sense when the project looks exciting to potential signings. It's mad how far we've fallen in a year because, right now, someone with the profile of Ndombele last summer would not be joining us.

That makes it all the more baffling that we didn't make any signings in the summer of 2018. It's always always easier to improve your team from a position of strength. If you're playing catch up to the top 4 you're in trouble.

Hazard was interested in joining us. He heavily implied it in an interview.

If we go into next season with Aurier as not only our first choice right back but also our only recognised right back then I truly do give up

IF that were to happen then it's clear the club is taking us for a ride

The TW closes a lot later than season opening - and the TW is still shorter than last summer.

In any sane world UEFA would have been told to do one over the enlarged Euros 2020 now happening in summer 2021 forcing tyhe season to end in May and thereby forcing the season to start a month earlier than most think sensible - as it is with the season start date where it is the length of the season is a month shorter than it should be meaning Spurs and others playing eveery weekend and mid week certainly up until christmas.

The other issue of course is that with the season starting so early there is bugger all pre-season for the players.

So suggest you understand the scheduling and its implications to understand why there most clubs will be signing players after the season starts.

Well there you go. He'd have been playing with Bale (for at least a season anyway) and it's difficult to see us failing to make top 4 in 2012/13 with those ingredients.

Perhaps he'd have demanded a move to somewhere like Real earlier than he did with Chelsea but it'd have brought a hell of a lot of cash in.

Chelsea just blew us out of the water for that transfer.

The one that still annoys me is Suarez. Redknapp didn’t think we needed him because we had VDV, even though he was a possibility. Obviously he’s a tosser, but what a team that would have been.

Can you imagine Bale on the right, Hazard left, Modric, Kane, Lloris, Eriksen, Toby, Verts, Walker, Rose and Dembele. I think that team together for 2-4 years builds a dynasty....
