Depends on how we start next season probably
if we can get decent results and look to be challenging for top 4 by xmas, nobody will want to leave.....I hope.

You haven't a clue as to what you're responding to have you?

(Geezer was actually talking about Levy actively seeking to sell our star players which is unfounded bullshit.)

Gutting it really is. If it wasn’t hard enough breaking the top 4, it’s now going to be near enough impossible. Liverpool and City are obviously on a different planet, but add a quality Chelsea side that are buying some unbelievable players, plus a very strong United side who bought brilliantly in Fernandes, we literally have no chance. Chelsea are buying absolute quality, whilst we are being linked to Troy Deeney. Utterly depressing.
But we do have a nice new big shiny stadium!

About Chelsea - and Havertz, Chillwell, Werner and Ziyech - and us.

I don´t want us to compete with their money. I´m not bothered about their spending or any of their huge signings. Honestly.

I understand we have a different structure, and I understand that we could be seriously affected by the pandemic.

But I want us to be smart and do our "little business", as Jose said, to make our team better and our squad more balanced.

That is not what we are doing.

How are we going to the season with a "much more balanced" squad - again, Jose´s words -, if we´ll have two recognized FB´s - assuming we sign one -, and that´s it?

We just had a disastrous season in terms of injuries and yet we don´t have a backup to Harry Kane - again!

Not to mention that, for the first team or at least for an immediate backup, we are still trusting in the Eric Dier experiment in our CB area.

This is less than "little business", this is not how you build a more balanced squad - and that´s my problem at the moment.

This is something that enrages me - all that money spent on the new training ground and stadium, but zero indication we're interested in overhauling our (let's be perfectly honest here) 'patchy' recruiting department.

It can't be that expensive to do. Hell, it probably pays for itself after one successful player purchase and flip for profit from a random european league. It's bizarre. Like Levy thinks we should have all the real estate to become 'elite' yet neglect to do everything in his power regarding our playing staff.
This I very much agree with. We've built great infrastructure, but the support staff of the club - recruiting and medical - just seem to be shit year after year.

This HAS to be the next big backstage project. The infrastructure is in place. Time to rework the backstage staff.

Some steps are being taken with the academy with Powell being brought in to be Head of Coaching for the U17-23s at least.

It's not a question of money (it would take investment, but a negligible amount compared to other things ENIC have done), it's a question of willingness to vest aspects of organizational authority away from Daniel Levy's desk.

At Manchester City the operational representative of ownership is Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chief executive of the business of the club is Ferran Soriano, and the ultimate overseer of the football operation is Txiki Begiristain.

At Spurs all three of those are Daniel Levy.

There is no one person at any of the top six clubs who has a remit as broad as Levy's. And the closest one is Ed Woodward who is also totally failing at it.

Things are way too cozy. Any decent company after spending £120-140m like we did last year and seeing hardly any results on the pitch would have conducted a thorough review of recruitment and made changes. We just carry on like nothing went wrong.

You all make fair points of criticism Ciro, but since the window is still open, perhaps it's a bit too early to draw conclusions already?

Thanks, Stanley. I agree and I´ll give the benefit of the doubt until the end of the window. But there are bad signs.

For example, do you think we are signing two FB´s until the end of the window? I don´t. I think we are signing one - nobody knows who -, and I think we are going to the season with Gedson, Tanganga and Cirkin as FB´s options. That´s not a "much more balanced squad" at all.
