Ooooof........ He was dreadful at Chavski and that was 2 seasons ago now!
He was good this previous season and that was when struggling for game time at Juve.
His year in life as a whole two seasons ago was not that great so no wonder he was not performing.

Ah but he didn't have Mourinho to guide him. I reckon he'd slot in nicely as Harry's back up if Jose got him his mojo back and put him on a diet.

I really don't mind what you called average to good signings. If our new RB is as good as Hojbjerg, for example, I'd be happy. We do have 'good to very good' players in the team - some of them should be called world-class, really.I think the squad will be a mixture of some average to good signings with young players supplementing that.
It may mean that some performance levels will be hit and miss from the younger players, but there is not a lot we can do considering the club won't spend big without no CL, although the irony is we might not be good enough to get CL for a while.
But considering that we are unlikely to spend big, I'd say our market should be divided in two.
DM and RB - two positions to improve the first team. We are doing it.
The second part should be addressing the gaps in the squad to make us more balanced - backup striker, backup FB´s, backup CB (Foyth´s replacement), backup GK. I don´t think we are doing enough.
For example, FB´s. I really like both Cirkin and Tanganga. I think it's good for a young CB to get minutes as a FB - a bit like young strikers getting minutes as wingers. You mentioned the lack of consistency in performances, I´d say that´s a small price to pay.
But in Jose´s system, the RB bombs forward, creates overloads, gets himself into good positions to cross, assist, etc. I think it´s a role for a right-footed attacking player. It´s not about youth or experience. We simply don´t have such an option in the squad - Gedson would be the closest one -, and it doesn´t look like we are getting one.
We are playing 3 games a week, every week. The lack of a proper player to perform the RB role will hurt us.

Not sure Lincoln Red Imps, Bala Town and Dundalk are the opponents he is looking forward to meeting at this stage of his career though.

Gedson & Tanganga will be our back up options at RB, and rumors about who our new first choice RB will be have been numerous: Castagne, Celik, Doherty, Klostermann, Aarons...
There are some clear faults in how we do business in the transfer window, but I don't have any doubt that the moment Aurier is officially sold, the signing of his replacement will already be 99% done, be it behind the scenes or widely reported.
