Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Is Doherty any good?
If he was 3-4 years younger he'd probably be looked at by a lot more clubs. He'd significantly improve our defense for the next 2-3 years.

His current contract runs through 2023 at £50k/week, so we could significantly improve his wages and he'd walk in as first choice, so that may appeal to him. I have no idea what Wolves would want for him, I've seen everywhere from £15-50m.

Dier is fairly below average as a central defender..,the drop looks more like a case of the coach demanding more in training from Davinson rather than Dier replacing him from the Starting XI permanently.

He has made the odd mistake or two but Davinson Sanchez is definitely the future and this is transfer fee well spent

We are talking here about how good/bad our record transfers have been.
And basically what you are saying is that "he makes mistakes and is kind of so-so player, but one day he might become good".

Thaaaat is awful recap for record transfer, sorry.

Record arrival should be someone who kicks down the door, is nailed down starter and leader at least in his line.
While in all honesty Sanchez has been just bit more than a squad player. 3 seasons after his arrival and in none of the seasons has anyone considered him "best defender of the season". So yea... as record transfer he has not fulfilled hopes.

I hope he can improve and iron out the mistakes, improve his focus and play calmer. But the fact is that he still needs to improve a great deal.

If you spend big and don't win anything then youre obviously not very good at spending. Its not an excuse to stop spending big, you just sack the person spending the money.

There's spending big, spending big continually and spending the most..... Far from black & white.

If it was down to money alone PSG would have won the CL the other night.... Higher wages & more expensive squad than BM.

Meanwhile we operate in a league with 3 richer, consistently big spending teams + another two that traditionally have been richer than us throughout the EPL era.... No other league can boast that kind of financial adversity.

In the case of Dav that's NOT the expectation he arrived with as a 21 yr old CB form a weaker league....

We've done a pretty shabby job of nurturing our investment in his case too.

There are varying profiles/expectations of players within the realms of being expensive.....

Soldado (eg) & Dav are worlds apart in that respect yet both were 'record breakers'.....

Genuinely grinning about next season.

We'll have Gedson at RB. Big Sissoko still pointing like a nutter in midfield. And when we're 2 nil down to Leeds at home, bringing on the Siege of Troy Deeney.
