I would also be wary of underestimating the impact of Doherty. You mention a lack of creativity in that XI but considering how much of the ball Jose's system gives the right back, having someone there who has been proven to make an impact in the final third (as opposed to Aurier) will increase chances created.

Aurier KILLED us offensively last season. Absolutely killed us. Opponents gave him all the time and space he wanted and he did nothing with it, allowing marking on our other attackers to be that much tighter.

If Doherty can do for us what he did for Wolves, his threat is going to make guys like Winks and PEH look like Pirlo all of a sudden.

It's a bit premature to call Hojbjerg and Doherty "marginal upgrades" before they've kicked a ball for us. My feeling is that they will be huge upgrades.

As much as I love the cult of Sissoko it's crazy that such a limited player got so many minutes for a top 4 club. Hojberg will bring more control in possession and more tenacity off the ball and I think he will elevate those around him. Winks in particular stands to benefit.

Of course the system relies on GLC, Kane and Son creating and scoring - they are attackers and that is their role. But add to that the box to box presence of Hojberg (See the second goal vs Ipswich) and the threat of Doherty, and with Lucas showing some good things towards the end of the season, I don't think there's a lack of creativity in that team.

Hjobjerg is not a terribly good passer and certainly not what anyone would call creative. He does nothing to help us break down a parked bus, will not help us move the ball up the pitch allowing GLC more ability to focus on linking with the front 3 and does little to nothing to take pressure off the back 4 if being pressed.

Doherty has legit questions about how he can play in a back 4, even in Mourinho's supposed system where the RB is allowed to go forward more.

There are upgrades over the poor options we had before but not upgrades compared to what other teams in the top 4 have which is what we need to be gauging these moves against if we want to be up there and they do absolutely zero to address our lack of creativity or ability to create offense. Especially if Winks is used as the replacement for the Ndombele role.

What amazes me is Aurier attracting all this attention from relatively large clubs, AC Milan, Leverkusen and Monaco. Let's be fair, he hasn't exactly set the footballing world alight with his premiership performances since joining us. Presumably they can see something that we are not currently able to tap into for whatever reason.
Seems highly likely he will leave us soon and it will be interesting just to monitor his performances at wherever he ends up.

There is no "Ndombele" role. Unless he is reinvented as the 10 to compete with Gio and Dele for that role ahead of the midfield two then he does not fit.

He simply cannot be trusted as part of the midfield 2 in Jose's system.

As for Hojbjerg, he seems to be more of a direct passer than Winks and he will get the ball into Gio or Kane ahead of him quicker than Winks and Sissoko typically did. He will also create chances through his ability to create turnovers as we saw for the second goal against Ipswich.

To a squad that has top 4 aspirations.

To a squad that would be leaving a 60 million dollar player who supposedly has the skills that fit exactly what we need on the bench and not replacing him with a similar style player.

To a squad that just spent 20+ million on a much better player than Moura in Bergwijn on the bench.

With a team that has limited creativity as it is having 3 players that are woeful with the ball at their feet and terrible going forward is brutal. When there are better options on the bench (Bergwijn, Ndombele) is even worse.
Bit dramatic though init.

Bergwijn will play.. did you not notice he kept picking up small injuries probably due to fatigue from not playing at a higher level than before.

Untill n'ndombele wakes up we should stop mentioning him he's a CM who doesn't work harder enough off the ball

He blows out off his arse after 10 minutes. both poch and Jose haven't been happy with him.

People forget, Stevie picked up a nasty injury just before lockdown; another who's season was as good as over......

If that is the case then we are in big trouble.

Winks-PEH-Lo Celso does not provide us with enough creativity to create chances. Adding in Moura in the front 3 and will are going to struggle mightily to score and link up with the front 3.

Not a chance PEH is getting a turnover line he did against the League 1 reserves to create a goal.

If we are not bringing in a player who can pass or create in our MF, whether Ndombele or someone else, this will not only be a team that is awful to watch stylistically but a club that will get very few positive results.

I dont care if it is Ndombele or someone else my point is we need a player like that in our starting 11, Winks is not that player.

Going to beg to differ mate.

Yes, it's a fairly common nickname in Spanish, although almost always in my experience for people who aren't actually black or mixed race, but "Spanish but darker than average" if you know what I mean. I know a bloke, half Spanish, half Italian, who everyone calls "Negro" (his second surname is something like Negrini and he's sort of swarthy looking) . A propos of nothing really, he's an anarchist, his mates who call him that are anarchist-punk types (including my brother-in-law), not people you'd associate with racism. Personally, I call him Javi.

I used to have a black mate here from the US, his Spanish family called him "Negrito" which they assured him was carinoso, "more friendly". He absolutely hated it, understandably.

Even so, the guilty parties, if that's what you want to call them, could give the defence that they considered themselves to be Chris's friends. Suárez wasn't Patrice Evra's friend in any sense of the word.

Words change meaning in their context, as we as Spurs fans know from the "Yid" debate. For example, the word "Scouse(r)" is happily used by Liverpudlians, as well as by non-Liverpudlians when talking to/about people from that city in a friendly way. Say it with a snarl, or add the word "wanker" and its meaning changes 180º. Get in Steven Gerrard's face and say "Eh Scouse" twenty-odd times in 90 seconds and he'll spank you. You probably won't even get to ten.

Which is the essential part of this case. Suárez called Evra "Negro" - not his nickname, no bond of friendship existing - twenty-odd times in 90 seconds, inches from his face. That's incredibly insulting (it would be if you followed me around and barked Bill in my face over and over again in a non-friendly way), and yes, it crosses the line into racist abuse, given Evra's skin colour and Suárez's obvious knowledge of the meaning of the word.

He knew what he was doing and why 100%
You know you’re probably right. Saying negrito to the right friend might be ok but how you said he did it, it sounds totally racist

Feel free to fuck off then you spotty nerd.
