I'd bleed for the shirt.

Do you want me to play up top as back up to Kane?

I like Winks by the way.
Bit of a bad argument as you're not a Spurs player.. Unless..

In all seriousness though, he has had to play out of position for almost 18 months, and not once kicked up a fuss. He's a centre mid, a dictator, box to box. Not a defensive mid. He's our Henderson, and we need to use him as that.

I like Ndombele, and hope he comes good, but everything I have seen so far points to him not taking this move or chance seriously. He has the build and ability perfectly matched for the Premier League, but doesn't seem to want it enough.

The disrespect for Winks is incredible. Someone who would bleed for the shirt, but we're all begging for Ndombele to stay, a player who hasn't shown half the desire.

Some fans really are strange.

I love Winks but unfortunately this is not kids football, effort and love for the Club is great but it does nothing to change his massive limitations, especially when it comes to creativity and passing which is what we need from that role.

I don't think fans want him thrown in the trash they just want a better player who is a better fit to be a starter for their club. That seems to make sense when you think most fans want to see their club win.

I’ve always been a strong advocate of the theory that Poch didn’t want Sissoko. I think this article shows clearly that he wanted a direct, pacey wide man, hence his mention of Mané.
Needless to say, whoever in our recruitment/scouting set up pin pointed Sissoko as a viable alternative to Mané should never be employed in the professional game again, but that’s a separate matter.

But that piece refutes that Tom.

Sissoko was hardly some obscure scouting recommendation. And he definitely wasn’t an analysts choice.

I’m know we wanted Mane and Zaha, (again these aren’t scouting or analysts hidden gems either) that still doesn’t absolve Pochettino for his part in the recruitment of SIssoko, which he clearly was a big part of. He might not have been his first choice, but he did want him.

His press resistance is one of the best in the league he's constantly demanding the ball and moving it on.

I dont get the hate.

I don't think watching him passing it back to Toby hoping he can make a pass to the front 3 is seen as a positive by most fans.

If he moved it on forward maybe then his supposed "moving it on" would be a benefit to the team but moving in on backwards and sideways hoping for someone else to make a postive pass, again is not really that helpful.

That's all you want to see.

Based on realistic options?

Ndombele being the player he reportedly is would be perfect. He can (supposedly) pass, run with the ball past defenders, looks to move the ball forward (and quickly which Winks seems to hate to do). He also is supposedly not afraid and able to make longer passes to open up the defense, allow our attackers to run on to the ball and keep going forward rather than having to track back and then start their momentum forward again after receiving the ball.

Thiago is another player that would be an amazing replacement in that role. I think Bennacer from AC Milan (linked to others not us) would be good in a deep lying pair with PEH, allowing GLC to play more advanced.

I like the idea of adding Sabitzer but not sure he allows GLC to play forward enough and might be a better fit in a 3 with Son and GLC behind Harry rather than in the Winks role.

My biggest complaint with Spurs last year is that they seemed so static. They were very slow to move the ball in the midfield, in large part because they passed back/sideways too often when the opposition pressed them and because Sissoko, Winks rarely could make a pass to beat a defender.

I would like to see the passes made quicker, longer, designed to open up the defense. Winks is not good at that. I also would like to see a player that can make passes to unlock a parked bus, Winks is horrible at that.

The unlabeled Spurs player (above Doucouré) is apparently Sissoko.
