Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You got to feel for the guy a bit as it’s not really though any fault of his own, I know some may say he is on loads of cash and not playing so why feel sorry for him , but he has the ability there and if he could have stayed fit then he would have been a special player, but unfortunately we only see glimpses of what he is capable of.

I think a lot of people don’t know how bad that hip injury was. Most players at this level would not have been able to continue their careers after having two major hip operations and being out for a year+, I give him a lot of credit for even coming back at all.

It’s clear that the hip issue has made him susceptible to muscle strains but he always plays with maximum intensity and tenacity when he is on the pitch, injuries can happen to any player but at least Lamela has played with a fighting spirit from day one. For that reason I will always be happy to have him in the squad, if the right transfer opportunity arrives for him then we should take it, but I think you always need players in your squad with his type of character. He is always ready for battle no matter his condition and if everyone in our squad had his attitude we would never lose a game.

Nice little video here explains what type of player he is. It's not just a YouTube compilation. He's a better player than you think. Watch it mate you might learn something

Finally.

Great video which explains a lot of the subtleness to his game. He’s very much a continental DM and I think a lot of us Brits aren’t used to seeing one not just crashing into people the entire time.

Think the video is spot on with his slight ‘imposter syndrome’, he does appear to act like he’s just won a golden ticket to play for Spurs. In a way, it’s super endearing.

Perhaps his range of passing isn’t as vast as the video suggests, but hey, how many Pirlo’s are there out there?

He’s still only 24. Most top level deep lying playmakers don’t really flourish until their late 20s.

I agree he's still learning his game. He's isn't the best and can still improve but a good player nonetheless

It's these shit statements that get on my nerves "a nothing player"

An academy player gone all the way to a champions league final after taking over from a broken wanyama and finished dembele, he held his own without much help at all.

A nothing player... 🤣 What a shit statement.
He hasn’t held ANYTHING in his own

In fact - our slide down the table coincided with his emergence as a starting CM

He’s a brilliant player, but Jose seems pretty set on this asymmetrical back three, so I’m not sure how he’d fit in an attacking LB.

He could be like a back-up for Doherty really or they could play 3-4-2-1 with Reguilon and Doherty being wing-backs.

Also if Doherty needs rest or is injured. Reguilon plays at LB then Tanganga RB, lets say. When we attack Reguilon goes wing-back and Tanganga drops to back 3. This signing i think just would make our full-back signings done and it would have enough depth, to start the season.
