I like Van de Beek, but if he’s going to cost us £40-50m, and is apparently talking up a move to Barca then I’d rather sign Grealish. Premier League experience, just as good and English.

If they know that Tanguy is gone and every report has the majority of clubs with limited cash, Skriniar for Tanguy seems like a very good swap.

I get that it leaves a massive hole in our MF, but I can't see how they can look at Toby, Dier, Sanchez and not see that we desperately need another starting quality CB in that group in the next two years and not see that Skriniar is a clear upgrade on Dier and Sanchez, and potentially Toby depending on how he ages.

The Dier re-signing, pumping up and over playing has me concerned that they really are that poor at evaluating defenders and they could actually not rate Skriniar in favor of Dier.

I wouldn’t believe any foreign sources. They’ve been reporting Tanguy is on the way out for months, whilst no English media say he is. Fabrizio Ramano, who I find the most reliable, says Inter are interested but hasn’t once said Ndombele is looking to leave.

You have to consider the Pep influence

'In positional play, in the general perception of the entire game, in tactical behaviour both offensively and defensively - Guardiola downright reprogrammed me,' he told Kicker.

'It's the simple movements that make you think, "Oh, never". But when you implement them, you realise very quickly that Guardiola is right.

'What he advises helps a lot, it makes the game easier and faster. Tactics are the most important thing to him
.'

It’s also been the same source, I think, and every other report has come from that. I’m not saying it’s complete bullshit, but either Spurs are playing it extremely close to the vest (possible) or they’re not going to even think about anything until they have replacements lined up.

I would say that if Ndombele is sold I don’t think anyone can accuse Levy of not backing Mourinho. Selling a promising, talented young midfielder, who is also the club record signing, after only one season would be shocking. All three of our signings sure has hell seem like Mourinho guys as well.

It’s going to be an interesting 5 weeks regardless.
