Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

When challenged few posters, if anyone, has come up with a realistic alternative to Hojbjerg - combination of money, previous PL experience (and many players from overseas leagues find PL a much bigger step up in terms of speeed and physicality than they expect - Ndombele may be an example) and indeed the bigger problem is/was the lack of top class 'real DM's' around or available etc.

Winks is fine - but is a no 8 not a no 6 where he's been played (and played too many matches if anything). And White will also make a few appearances, mainly in EL and League Cup I imagine, which will also provide a bit of cover.

Aurier either stays (as cover at RB/LB) so would have a use or, as Milan seeem to want him, a compromise will come about.
I think Mourinho said White isn't ready for the Prem.

I think Jose can actually get us top 4 again. Overall that's still depressing considering where we were at and where we could have and should have been.
We're hoping he can fluke a cup and it will make up for the bus parking.
Better than nothing but not much to be positive about.
RomanzoCriminale RomanzoCriminale what do you disagree with buddy?

Agree with most of the post but just don't agree with the not much to be positive about.

I think there's a hell of a lot to be positive about.

Last season was a fuck up with the Champs league hangover, Poch leaving and the injuries. If Jose had been in charge from the start of the season it think we would have finished 3rd easily. With the new additions we've made (possibly more to come) i think we'll be hard to beat this year and will be a team no one wants to face once we really get going. I expect we'll get at least 1 cup and a top 3 finish.

Fair enough. I'd be happy with 3rd and a cup.

Am I the only one here very sceptical about this guy? Seems overhyped and I don't really get why. I'm afraid if he's taken out of Ajax he'll stop shining.
I think he's a fantastic player and was really surprised when nobody picked him up after their CL run. But I don't think he is a player that we particularly need right now IMO. To me plays a similar role to Lo Celso and unless we plan on selling Ndombele no point getting another guy who is half 8 half 10 when we already have a few (Lo Celso, Ndombele, Dele) plus three number 8's (Sissoko, Winks, Gedson).

Happy we seem to be getting our business done early, and filling the positions that were needed to be filled. Now we need a striker badly, ideally I would love somebody who could play out wide as well, and then maybe a bit of depth at left back (depends on what Jose Sessegnon's future, I actually don't think it's necessary). Anything else would actually be a bonus signing and show our intent to improve rather than get back to what we were 18 months ago.

That´s what I´ve been saying: it doesn´t make sense to imagine a Donny van de Beek transfer to United. Those stories are false.

The fact that we were after Zaniolo was a surprise to me, but if we are willing to spend big money on another midfielder, I could perfectly see us getting the Dutch.

If we are willing to spend some proper money on a midfielder, Camavinga or Kessie would be much, much better uses of that money than Donny Van Der Delli Alli Beek - or spend half that, buy Sangare and then go and spend the other half on a LB and/or Stengs ?

Edit
Or spend some of the rest on a back up striker like Niang, Leao or Rebic ?

So in Messi world it’s about to all turn into a pantomime, €700m release clause must be paid as he didn’t activate his “can leave for free” clause back in June, his lawyers argue it states the end of season, which of course was extended, Barca argue June, LaLiga agree with Barca.....
Who draws up these contracts I wanna know🤷‍♂️
Seems that every year there is at least one transfer that will involve more lawyers than actual football people.....

Not really. Lo Celso plays with the ball, Donny van de Beek plays with the spaces (few touches per game, etc). If anything, they complement each other.

As I´ve been saying for a while, I think Jose trusts Lo Celso a lot and he´s building his team around him. I´m sure we won´t sign anyone to do what the Argentinian already does.

That could be a good shout, I´m just saying that a Donny van de Beek transfer to Tottenham would make more sense than a Donny van de Beek transfer to United.
