I'm talking about nothing more than how the eye works and deals with 'flat distance'..... I know from playing in goal as a teenager it's not until play comes into your half that you can start to see verticality(*) or speed properly....

(*As in vertical passing lanes, not in a ground-to-sky sense.)

No doubt a pro develops a better feel for the game, but the same fundamental disadvantage applies.
As an ex leper 'keeper myself, I have to agree with you.

Of course, that doesn't mean a keeper shoudn't be captain. After all Hugo and Zoff have done well as captain. There needs to be leaders all over the pitch imo. A prime example of that would be Utd of years past;
Schmeichel
Bruce
Pallister
Keane
Cantona
etc etc
All could of been captain with no bother at all.

Indeed.... Whilst you have other figures on the pitch prepared to assume a similar degree of responsibility I don't think it's a problem.

I kinda think of it atm that we have 2 captains (3 until Jan left). A renaissance for Dier would likely see him occupy similar realms too.

Hopefully PEH as well.
I don't know enough about him but apparently he demands the best from players around him.

So that would be 3 or 4 "leaders" on the pitch. Good stuff.

Poch ran out of steam, but I don't see how people can judge him. The book - perhaps an error of judgement - I think the reason Poch ran out of steam, wasn't just due to all the stadium problems and the limited budget.
I think it was the old Spurs downfall - trying to be competitive whilst playing attractive football.
To that extent he is an example of a Spurs tragic figure. A lot of managers have found the idealistic side of Spurs in conflict with the demand for results. The only managers that have been able to combine both were Rowe, Nicholson, and the General - although Burks was given time. Rowe ended up having a nervous breakdown and only Bill Nick survived it all intact - deep down he was a bit of a contradiction, negative and dour in some ways as a person but deep down he was steeped in the Spurs tradition of winning in style, and he delivered.
Mourinho will win things, it will be by playing calculated non-attractive football - I think a lot of Spurs fans now recognise this is a compromise that has to be made once in a while, as with George Graham.
back in those days 'Manager'srarely gave interview, or stood posing on the touchline, we hardly ever heard comments from them. Their comments and criticisms were kept for the dressing rooms. The team did the talking for them on the pitch. Much better than the way it is now. There will never be another Bill Nick sadly

If he is here 3+ years we will win a title. We have a top front 4 (Kane, Son, Moura, Dele, Bergwijn). If we solidify the MF and shore up the back four, there is no reason we shouldn’t compete for a title. Signing PEH and Dougherty is a good start.

I also think winning titles is less about “money” and more about a good combination of talent and attitude (winning mentality, grit, etc.) to go along with good tactics. Mourinho brings that attitude and tactics.

Liverpool hasn’t done that well since February and seem to have lost that edge and desire after winning the PL and CL. I won’t count them out at all, but I would not be surprised to see them finish third or lower this season.

City look burned out. Messi would obviously be a game changer.

United outperformed their play (way too many penalties in favor) and I honestly think their manager is mediocre.

Chelsea is a bigger threat long term because of the team’s youth.

I expect Spurs to have a top four finish this coming season followed by a run at the PL the following season.
Youth plus recent investment (read continued financial doping) means Chelsea will probably win the league next year.

LOL

I'm a stalker? You had to go through and find all my posts to put your pathetic little dislikes on them thinking that makes you some kind of big man instead of the pathetic Woolwich troll we all know you are.

I tried burying the hatchet but then you continued randomly disagreeing with my posts. Until you stop, I will retaliate in kind.

BTW you aren't rated on this forum, so there is no 'we'...only 'you'. So wind your neck in you little spamming cunt or I'll rip your rat head off your rat neck and shit down the hole.

Do you fucking understand?

Good. Now fuck off.
