I thought he was horrible
Was probably his worst display for us. He needs to be in a team with high possession we're too happy to not have the ball. I actually think with the midfielders we have him and Gio is the best combo I think they only played once as a 2 I thought it worked better than having sissoko or hoijberg(willing to give him time) alongside him

Ings is a good player but If we just buy 28 year olds or older to keep Mourinho from whinging it would be a disaster. Whether you think he'll be gone in a few weeks, summer 2021 or even sometime time in 2022 someone else is going to have to pick up an ageing squad, another complete rebuild and we wont do or spend what United have done post Mourinho. The board need to spend some serious money but on the likes of Daka and Requilion.

They are really not - Gomes is ultimate sideways passer and Doucoure is a variation of Sissoko.
You are absolutely talking shit here in your attempt to stick to your point. Gomes is a technically sound player...though he may be hampered athletically. And igula's point about the other Everton attacking players offering themselves is a very good point in comparison to our players who either hold their position or jsut run forward. The only offering you get is Harry dropping deep. We are fucking stale and limited in attack. And there is no longer a Mousa Dembele to break the line with his dribbling so our useless forwards are going to have to start moving into uncomfortable spaces if we are to have any success. Otherwise it's just going to be 100% counter and long ball.

“Now it’s about creating another chapter and to have the clear idea of how we are going to build that new project. We need to rebuild. It’s going to be painful.”

We cannot live like we lived in the last five years — on the perception side and on the reality side. We achieved a lot of things, we overachieved maybe. Because of our ambition and the way that we work, we’re here now in a very good position.

“But what next? I cannot guess because it’s a club decision. What can we expect now? One question the other day was, ‘is the depth of the squad not at the quality of the new stadium?’

“If we start next season talking about that, nothing good is going to happen in the future. The perception and the feeling are not going to be right.”

“Can we repeat [our achievements] next season? I cannot guess. When we finish the season, I think it’s a moment to close a five-year chapter, to analyse, to talk a lot and to give the real value of that period. It was amazing.

“The problem is: what do we want for the next chapter? Now we’ve finished the training ground and the stadium, what does the club want to achieve in the next one, two, three or five years and what are the fans expecting

"There’s many things to talk about and put on the table, and then try to be realistic.”

A helpful template for posts regarding what managers have said...

"When he said X he really meant Y"

I think we will never know if it was him over-relying on the same players or he was telling the truth.

New manager won't change things. Levy will stay. So, the best option would be to realise, that some of them have been here for too long. Dele needs replacing, Davies needs replacing, Dier needs replacing, Kane needs a back-up.

Says the guy who comes out with that level of drivel.

You could equally say that about Winks -both players are much for a much. Jesus Christ - it says something when are supporters are trying to turn Gomes, Doucoure and even Allan into something they are not.

This isn’t a player issue - certainly not in comparison to Everton, it is a system/ tactical issue.

We don’t play the old system anymore - we don’t have two fast attacking full backs advancing. We don’t have a Dembele to carry the ball or Eriksen to drop deep and bridge the midfield with attack. We don’t press up the pitch.

The system now is that the team is reactive with a low block looking to counter teams with the right wing back being the main outlet. It’s not a particularly effective strategy which is why when it is nullified as we saw what we saw yesterday the alternative play is pretty terrible stuff.

He barely got minutes there. We all know that most strikers need a playing streak and a certain confidence to shine. He has done so in Turkey, and has also put in some good shifts in the national team.
I remember a shitty Kane in Leicester before he got the chance in Europa for us and started banging in goals..
As I said before in the thread. Start him in Europa and Carabao and slowly integrate him in the team. I think he can do well.

Cult of Levy mentality he's a big stiff idiot that's not good enough.

I think he was telling the truth, Levy himself knows it, he admitted in the documentary the squad needs to be rebuilt. At this point nobody wants any of our players except for Kane and Son.

Exactly. You just need to look at the standard of players the other top teams are making and compare them to us. Chelsea - Werner, Ziyech, Havertz etc , United - VDB and very possibly Sancho , Liverpool and City don’t need much as they are 10x better than everyone else. Woolwich - Willian etc. Then you look at us. Hojberg and close to signing our striker, Crystal Palace flop Sørloth. If he’s not good enough for Palace, then why the fuck would he be good enough for a club trying to get top 4? Buy average mid table players, end up being average and mid table. Spurs just don’t buy anywhere near enough quality of player to break this top 4 and it’s down to our fucking owners and Levy.

Like with certain players under Ramos and AVB i dont think they are as bad as the manager/tactics are making them look. That isnt to say we dont need around 4 very good first team ready players because we do but they just look like a disinterested rabble at the moment.

Fuck me, if this is the level of player we are after then mid table here we come. An absolute travesty of a player at Palace. I refuse to believe there is any truth in it on that basis!
Just because a player doesn't do well at one team, doesn't mean he wouldn't be a success at another...

Sanchez at Woolwich vs Sanchez at Man Utd
Zaha at Palace vs Zaha at Utd

I don't know whether he'd be a success, but he's done very well out on loan, and with Leipzig after him also there is clearly a player there.
