Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Last season he had 9 goals and assisted 5 goals in 2,197 minutes in all competitions, or a g/a every 156 minutes.

The prior season he had 27 goals and 9 assists in
3,592 minutes in all competitions, or a g/a every 100 minutes.

Seems like the kind of player that would be an okay back up to Kane.
The stats i looked at showed he got 7 in 40 games last season but happy to be proved wrong. He's 28 and had one good goal scoring season, so sorry mate it's a big no from me.

Agreed. So how is this an argument against Diop?
It's not an argument against Diop, but no, I don't want him. We could get better CBs than him for less money. I want us to be careful and clever with our funds. Resale value is important to me.

It is an argument against the likes of Skriniar and Dias.
Yeah, but that 1 skill is overrated when that's the only attack you have. Plus, his negative far outweigh his positives now. I'd rather some fast monster that can defend but just punts it upfield at this point.
I'd sell him in the morning. But not having any CB worth a wank on the ball doesn't hold any appeal for me, and I would avoid them.

And it is not the only attack we have.

Why aren't they lining up then? He's been left out of the squad, reports after reports that he might be on his way, etc. So why aren't they lining up? If he's that good and desired then why aren't all the top PL clubs and top clubs from other leagues lining up? Why did RM tell us to do one when we tried to offer him in the Bale deal? I can tell you why but it should all be clear by now.

a) because he costs a lot of money at a time when clubs have significantly lower income
b) because at the price Levy is quoting it seems too risky
c) who is to say they aren't?
d) maybe we don't actually want to sell him
e) apparently PSG are interested. Are they not a top club?

I don't think we need to worry about this now that DL has found a manager for which he wants to spend.

but I was firmly in the Dias camp. Now what do I do?

And it is not the only attack we have.
What's the other one?

a) doesn't seem to be stopping spending thus far so this covid scare affecting football transfers seems to have been a tempest in a teapot.

b) do you have knowledge of said quoted price? So this is purely hypothetical to defend your position that Dele is good then?

c) I don't have to prove "they aren't". You are the one that has claimed that all these top clubs would want him so it's your assertion that needs supporting not mine. I'm just telling you to show me the evidence.

d) where there's smoke there's fire and it's been reported (from UK and France) and he's been left out of the squad for the 1st time for a PL game for 'tactical' reasons. Do you tend to always discount all evidence of things that go against your intial perspectives?

e) PSG may be a 'top club' but unless I am mistaken they are not...
Pretty much every top club in the league...

So you can continue to do mental gymnastics to satisfy your initial position that Dele is awesome or you could alter that more toward the reality of him having been shit for quite a long time and the high probability of many people and teams wondering exactly how and why would you accommodate a player with so many deficiencies and such a poor recent history of performance.

Bit boring your arguments to be honest. I am not allowed to assume anything but you are. In a situation where no one has any evidence of anything other than speculation that we *might* want to sell becase he has been in poor form and got left out of a game. Interesting double standard you have going on.

Thing is, it's my opinion. You are free to disagree with it but I don't have to prove a damn thing to have it. My opinion, as already expressed, is that Levy will want a price that reflects his previous value/future value not his current value. Dele has shown plenty to interest other top clubs. He is 24, he has not had a career ending injury. He has simply lost form for some reason. No one can prove anything much, but Levy is Levy so people can come to their own conclusion on what is most likely in terms of what he will want to get paid for what has been at times one of the best talents in the whole league.
