Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

So a lot of outgoing business left to do

Rose, Gazzaniga, Foyth, Sessegnon, Clarke, Carter-Vickers, maybe a loan for Cirkin, and if we have designs on bringing in an additional foreign player beyond Vinicius (ie Skriniar), at least one more outgoing loan or sale of an existing senior foreign player.

(Dele? Aurier? Could we terminate Gedson's loan? Maybe a loan of Tanganga if it is Skriniar incoming?)

Be very interesting to see after this window closes just how much of an actual financial outlay Levy has incurred on behalf of the club. Considering the players coming in and what I'm reading about loans with options to buy then I would suggest that our Chairman has so far played a fucking blinder.

He has to be fair, can't knock him for the business we are doing at all, I just hope Jose gets his first choice CB in.

Signing Skriniar elevates this squads level right to the top, we literally have multiple options in every position. Skriniar would be head and shoulders above the level of all of our centre backs imo.

All the great Mourinho teams had a commanding centre back that has real presence in the air, we currently don’t have that and Skriniar is just that. I’m really hoping we get this one done, I hope we’re serious about it. Surely Hitchen being in Milan meant something the other day, I hope we were waiting for Europa qualification money to build the rest of the funds up so make this one happen, fingers crossed getting this one over the line because I truly believe we have the squad to challenge in every competition this year with this signing.

Getting a striker on a 3m loan makes it much more likely that we increase our bid for Skriniar. I think it'll happen. But they will make us suffer for a couple more days.

Really hope Skriniar happens. I like the Demiral link, but sense Skriniar is the player Jose wants. Apparently tried to sign him when at United, who had a £57m bid rebuffed. Also linked with Madrid and Barca for silly money. Form has slumped with a system/manager change.

I really like what I've seen of him on the ball, he positions himself well and has aggressive instincts for intercepting play. Doesn't seem overpriced to be buying the 4/5 prime years of a potentially top centre back at €40-50m. Imagine we'd get a player highly motivated by the move after a period in which he regressed a bit.

Not gonna sell these because of the HG situation, neither will Tanganga be allowed to leave.

Spot on. The current CBs might just barely be good enough, but if you hire Mourinho the idea needs to be to think bigger than that. Give him the CB that elevates the level of the team, otherwise you won’t get the best out of Mourinho’s time here.

It ain’t going to happen this window mate so best get used to that. We’ve bought in one DM in Hojbjerg and if Sissoko can play like he did in 18/19 then that’s fine as back-up. Dier can slot in there in a crisis. Striker is definitely more required. Last two seasons have been derailed by Kanes injury. An upgrade at CB is also a bigger priority considering we’ve lost Verts. Some people need to understand that we ain’t Man City and what we’ve done this window represents the very best we could have hoped for
Hjojberg is not a DM, and Why do you keep mentioning Man City you realise even though we have singed loads of players we have still spent less than last summer?
Let's just say as you have that Hjojberg is the DM and his cover is Sissoko and Winks, then we have the CB's Toby, Sanchez, Dier, Tanganaga , Foyth and CCV the last 2 likely to leave then we also have Davies who can play CB, now i dont know about you but i would feel a lot happier losing Toby for a run of Game and having Sanchez and Tanganga to step in then i would losing Hjojberg and having to use either Winks or Sissoko as a DM and im sure im not the only one?
I agree its been an outstanding window, but this is the transfer thread so we can discuss transfers? and its pointless to keep saying "well we aint City" if there is talk that we have £45 million to spend on a CB then there is money left to spend this window? I just think we would be better off spending it on a decent DM rather than a CB.
