Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hjojberg is not a DM, and Why do you keep mentioning Man City you realise even though we have singed loads of players we have still spent less than last summer?
Let's just say as you have that Hjojberg is the DM and his cover is Sissoko and Winks, then we have the CB's Toby, Sanchez, Dier, Tanganaga , Foyth and CCV the last 2 likely to leave then we also have Davies who can play CB, now i dont know about you but i would feel a lot happier losing Toby for a run of Game and having Sanchez and Tanganga to step in then i would losing Hjojberg and having to use either Winks or Sissoko as a DM and im sure im not the only one?
I agree its been an outstanding window, but this is the transfer thread so we can discuss transfers? and its pointless to keep saying "well we aint City" if there is talk that we have £45 million to spend on a CB then there is money left to spend this window? I just think we would be better off spending it on a decent DM rather than a CB.

I agree it would be a worry to lose Hojberg for any decent period but I think we would go to a Winks/ Lo Celso duo in his absence as we did last season.

So we'd have to lose both Hojberg and Lo Celso before we were starting big games with Winks and Sissoko.

Also, if Ndombele keeps progressing fitness wise he might start being utilised in a deeper role which gives us further options.

I'd love a top quality DM and I think that should be the main target in future windows. Hopefully Skipp can kick on and we ultimately upgrade Winks and Sissoko with Skipp and a world class DM.

We have good options at centre back but none are top level imo. I think Mourinho just wants a no nonsense, hard bastard to lead from the back.

Dier seems to have a bit of that in him but he is not the full package.

Please not the 'we won the window' argument. That's what Everton fans have said the past few years and they were awful afterwards each year.
I mean as spurs fans we’ve already won because none of us expected a window like this. Whether we’ve had the best window is debatable but I don’t really care about that cos I only focus on what we need. I’m just happy we’ve finally decided to do a rebuild because the team has been in decline for 2 or 3 years

I think most people disagree with you, including Jose.
Going by the comments on here, most people disagree with you, not me as let's be honest we are just 1 injury away from having Winks or Sissoko as our DM , and both have proved they should never Play DM for us ever again! Its not up to me to come up with a player we should sign, that's what scouts are for, but if we have as rumoured around £50 million left to spend then it wouldn't be very hard to get a better DM then Winks or Sissoko, we didn't even spend anywhere near that on Hjojberg who isn't a DM.

Dier's been fairly steady (not great, but not bad) this season to date. Sanchez's crossfield attempt that gave away their first goal last night could only be described a calamitous.

Stones is HG rather than an untested Slovak or a South Korean, and at some point must become surplus to needs at City.

As I said, left field, but any more left field than Rudiger?
He’s also not particularly good and can barely get in the City team with a laughably poor defence now that Kompany is gone.
Yes, HG - but no improvement on Dier for me - certainly doesn’t seem a Jose type of player...too much dribbling out and giving the ball away in dangerous positions.

I thought the problem with Winks is he is being played out of position and isn't a DM, apparently when we signed Hjojberg, also not a DM winks could play in his proper position and we would all see how good he is?
Dont get me wrong its been an amazing window already, but if we still have money to spend rumoured around £50 million it seems crazy we haven't bought a DM , but Jose is the man with the experience and i wont lie, he knows a little bit more than me so lets just wait and see how it unfolds.

Be very interesting to see after this window closes just how much of an actual financial outlay Levy has incurred on behalf of the club. Considering the players coming in and what I'm reading about loans with options to buy then I would suggest that our Chairman has so far played a fucking blinder.
The Vinicius deal gets even better the more you look at it - the risk of a striker flopping, even if they look perfect on paper, always seems substantial. A 3 million Euro outlay on the loan fee is brilliant business to have a season checking that we definitely want to keep him. We're essentially Janssen-proof on it.

I'm not actually sure how Levy managed to get Benfica to agree to that one.
