It is quite an insulting initial offer but it does one of two things. It shows our definite interest in the lad by an official bid going in and it also unsettles the player knowing that a top Premier club wants to sign him. He will now hopefully put pressure on Swansea to let him go and then we come back with a more realistic figure that the Welsh outfit either accept or at least realise the deal is happening once it's been tweaked a bit.

Our current Director of Football Operations was Swansea Chairman less than 2 months ago and we have until the 16th to get it done.

No way 7 mil was our final offer.

Or it pisses them off and indicates that we are not serious and they sell him to West Ham.

I guess that is the tightrope you walk during transfers and trying to save every tiny amount but if the report of us not going over 7m is true is seems kind of pointless to even have gone in as that seems like an easy no from Swansea, and something they shouldn't even consider.
