"A player – who cannot be named at this time - tested positive on Friday after a negative test on Monday but his case is not related in any way to that of the backroom team member who tested positive on Monday last," read an FAI statement.

"Talks with the HSE late last night identified four other players as close contacts of this positive case and they have been stood down from the matchday squad for today’s game against Wales."

It's understood Callum Robinson, John Egan, Alan Browne and Callum O'Dowda will be absent from the fixture as they were close contacts of the positive case.

So they've named the four close contacts, but not the player who is positive.

Imagine spending £70m on that walking outhouse

.....And then some:

Currently, the most expensive defenders of all time are:

Harry Maguire (Manchester United): £85 million (!!!)

Virgil Van Djik (Liverpool): £75 million
Lucas Hernandez (Bayern Munich): £70 million
Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus): £67.5 million
Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City): £57 million
Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City): £52 million
Kyle Walker (Manchester City): £50 million
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United): £50 million
David Luiz (Chelsea to PSG): £50 million
John Stones (Manchester City): £47.5 million

(As at Aug 19 so insert Diaz > City at circa 65m)

ROI vs. Wales has been really poor so far.

ROI aren't a good team anyway, plus they're missing several starters, and Wales without Bale are just a crap side.

Plus, watching it on the American ESPN feed, best part is no stupid dubbed crowd noise.

Wales should be better really, they haven't created much.
Not sure about Rodon, he would drive Mourinho mad with the chances he takes. If we got him it would definitely be a project not somebody ready to play for the first team.

Buy and loan back IMO.
