Yeah think all boro supporters back then had them as their 2nd club.

Used to watch them as a kid and would literally be playing football behind the goal knocking our ball onto the pitch and asking the GK to kick it back.
Used to go myself when the club reformed in the 70s. The east stand enclosure was basically a large shed without a front. Used to go with a mate from primary school. Would only be about 30/40 people in the stands.
Was only interested because I used to play on the overgrown pitch that had a big trench dug into it a few years before.
Made a great battlefield for kids to play on.
Health and safety nightmare though.

So I turned on the BBC, thinking I'll settle down to watch our game, why are they showing that lot down the road????

Think I'll watch Celebrity Catchphrase instead!!

Yes, I now realise that the game is tomorrow!
:mourfacepalm:

That's good to hear. I don't mind a couple of youngsters being involved, but I hope we show Marine a little respect and field a strong team. For them this is going to be an amazing game even if they get thrashed, but playing against a team made up of our youth squads would spoil the occasion for them I think.
I disagree. ..we don't play games like this to make an occasion for these lower teams...we play to win, to progress and win a trophy. Risking Kane, son et al seems unnecessary and we are all sure to go mental at Jose if they got injured. I also find your comment (and the attitude of the media generally towards this kind of tie) patronising and disrespectful to the smaller club...ahhhh look how lucky they are to be playing such a big club etc etc.
We owe them fuck all and we shouldn't have to play our 1st team to beat them so chuck the b team and youth team in, get the job done professionally and move on. Don't give any of our first team a chance to get hacked by a clogger milkman and ruin our chances of winning a trophy.

The FA Cup is the oldest football competition in the world and it deserves respect. We should always field a strong team in any competition to give ourselves the best chance of progressing, there's no need to throw it away by playing the kids.
We've got a first team squad of 25 players so we can easily field a strong team whilst also leaving Kane, Son, Hojbjerg and Lloris at home. We can play the likes of Hart, Bale, Dele, White, Doherty, Davies, Rodon, Clarke, etc and top them up with some academy players.
