Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

All of this debate around Jose is why so many of us worried about him coming in the first place. He got the best backing any manager has ever gotten in one window from Levy yet apparently that’s not enough.

Well if that is the case why did he go to a club that has financial constraints. And is he really the special one if he needs the Worlds best players in every position to win games and win titles while playing boring football.

Whatever your feelings on the squad how on Earth can you say that is ever remotely what we are capable of in attack. A team of Kane, Son, Bale, Ndombele, Berwijn, Lucas, Lo Celso, Regulion, Vinnie, Dele and all we seem to have is a quick counter attack relying on inch perfect passes from Kane to Son.

Would anyone on this forum accept Redknapp with this squad playing this football and getting these results, not in a million fucking years.
Sack him.

What are you on about regarding Doherty? We played him at RWB. Was still shit. Aurier has been miles better than him in RB, RWB, whatever. And Aurier has mistakes in him.

Why are people giving footballers excuses FFS. Do you know how much they are paid nowadays????

Yes Aurier has been good, he has competition this season and it shows. If Jose can’t get the same performances out of Doherty as Wolves could what is Jose doing?

poch you could feel had to be sacked as they was clearly spent, this team doesnt feel like that at all. if we dont have a nice run of results with reggie back ill be very surprised. we have far too many incompetent players in the squad imo and thats been highlighted even more recently. jose has made loads of mistakes but imo the weakness of the squad is more to blame for where we are now. the amount of individual errors every game is quite astonishing
If we don’t have a nice run of results and lose 3 out the next 4, will you still hold this view? Assuming the style of football makes it completely impossible to watch, let alone enjoy our games?

We have played him as RWB once, against Antwerp at home in the Europa League, never in the Premier League.
And played him once as a Left Wing Back (sic)

Every other occasion has been in a flat Back 4,, with defensive responsibilities, despite never have played in that role before.

Talk about round pegs for square holes, just another management master class, but no it is the player that is at fault, despite being a stand out for last few seasons.

Seriously I am getting to stage where I am thinking was Jose just a frontman for Rui Faria, he is absolutely lost without him

Really?
Hart on a free
Bale and Vinicus on loan. One been a total disaster.
Doherty terrible.
Rodon - what? Why?
Hoijberg - decent.
Requillon - from memory, decent. Glorified loan the better he gets on well though,

well how were we supposed to know Bale was going to be a disaster ? Most of us were ecstatic when we got bale back and bought in what looked like a decent back up finally to Kane in Vinicius. You can’t tell me it’s a shit window Just because they have looked poor. Fact is, Mourinho was backed and with the squad at his disposal, we should be a lot fucking higher than 9th

This is the key. You want to argue our squad isn't good enough to win the league, I'm right there with you. But we should be hovering somewhere between 3rd and 5th with the quality we have. This is a squad good enough for top 4.

Jose isn't maximizing the talent, he's getting possibly the least possible out of it.

True but that was the whole point of Jose, he is supposed to be the special one. Most people looking at our squad at the start of the season after the transfers thought it was about United/Chelsea strength give or take and a bit below City or Liverpool.

With Poch we came 2nd, Jose is supposed to be a superior manager at least in terms of results, we accept the negative football, buy him some players and have a title challenge. If that is not the case why the fuck did we bring him here because otherwise it makes literally no sense unless Levy really wanted a League Cup.

The best manager is the manager who elevates his players to the very best of their capability, right now Moyes is doing probably the best in the league given his players, Jose is doing the worst. If he was the best manager we would be at the top fighting City, if he was decent we would be 3-5th instead we are 9th.

and yet he has started some games.

He was kept on the bench at the beginning as backup for Ndombele who wasnt lasting the full 90, a factor that has changed as the season progressed. His last game he started alongside Ndombele and most likely would have been starting ahead Lamela & co if he was fit.
What percentage of league games has he started when fit? I’d guess less than 30%.

We’ve missed him, it isn’t cause to be dominated by Brighton though that’s for sure.

That league only or include cup games out of interest?

Purely League. 4 out of 11. So very low sample size

Twice in place of Tanguy who was on bench and replaced him (Tanguy had played the midweek)
Once when Tanguy was out of squad for match
And once against Woolwich when they both started.
Assuming whenever not named in 18 man League squad, he was not available, rather than dropped.

Much more prevalent a starter in the "midweek reserve cup team"

Agree with some of what you say there - I actually haven't had that vibe in the last couple of games either (players not playing for the manager) although in the Chelsea game they looked as if they didn't give two shits.

Agree the players are making a load of mistakes, but for me it's a product of a terrible game plan that invites pressure that these players are failing to handle. They all know if they make one mistake it probably loses the game and that pressure makes them more likely to commit one, then the manager criticises them for it and guess what? That makes them more likely to commit one too.

And the absolutely constant barracking and criticism from the sideline always audible now the grounds are empty - probably JM teams have always benefitted from not being able to hear the master moaner all game.

All in all this experiment is just a total duffer in a death spin. I remember always watching JM teams thinking 'how the fuck do these guys ever win anything?' and it's no different now, except he didn't spend £100m per player so they aren't just mysteriously able to win against all statistical likelihoods.
