IF we let Son go we should look at Leon Bailey as a direct replacement. Young but established.
Although Bailey is a good player.. he is not as good as Son was when he was playing for Leverkusen..and Son was younger.
Son had 3 or 4 seasons in a row from a teenager into his early twenties before joining us where he had 10+ goals in the Bundesliga. Bailey is 23 (the same age in which Son joined us) and he has never got 10+ goals in the Bundesliga.
I am not knowledgeable enough on identifying the exact target but I think we'll need to think outside the box a little.
Salah went from barely scoring in Switzerland and his short spell for Chelsea to getting almost 1 in 2 in Italy and he has been better than 1 in 2 for 4 seasons for Pool.
The player we buy to replace Son, should it happen, might not be already scoring to a similar ratio.
Agreed. We are so focused now on individual stats when looking at players instead of looking at the system they play in and what role they perform in it.
Once we have sorted out who manages the team next season we need to nail down a system and recruit players that fit that system. Not just players with good individual stat lines. It is what makes teams like Sevilla and Ajax to keep on chugging despite being raided with regular intervals. They recruit players that they know will work as a round peg in a round hole and expect the system to elevate the players performances.
Also on the Son leaving point.. the discussion is pointless if neither Son or the management/board want him to leave. And I think that had been the situation certainly until now.
However if we do really poorly and don't even qualify for Europe next year and don't win a trophy.. then I think it will open up the possibility of 1 or even some of our top players leaving.

The thing with Son is he on £200k a week. So any team coming in for him will need to be in a position to pay similar. I think there are few teams out there paying those wages.
The ones that will pay out will likely look at Haaland and Sancho before Son.
Age and contract wise this summer is the right time to cash in but given the world's situation right now I am not sure the offer will come in.
I love Sonny, but I love THFC more. If his current poor form is linked with his contract situation, then we need to deal with it asap. I really don't want to start hating him because he's messing us around.
100% agree. I'd like to give Son the benefit of the doubt and say that he's a true professional that'll always do what's right for his club but when it comes to money/contracts etc., everyone is susceptible to acting out of character. We saw what transpired w/ Eriksen.

No goal for him today - but 2 assists.
He's now just 2 assists of having double digits for goals and assists in the Premier League, which would be the first time he's achieved that - it'd also mean both him and Kane would have that. Can't be very often, if at all, that a team has had two players on double digits for goals and assists. I may have to do some digging but I feel if any team has, it'll likely be Woolwich with Henry and one of Pires/Bergkamp perhaps. So I can't be bothered.

2 assists today, lovely to see him with a goal threat but he's played so much
Great game by him. He created more chances in this game than any other PL game of his. I think the stat was 6 chances.. but that didn't include the chance at then end. So must be at least 7 chances.
He got that last season. He was one of 3 players to have 10+ goals and assists last season. The other 2 being Salah and KDB.
