Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

For me, there's no alternative for Levy than to get a new manager in the summer (as much as I'd love Nagelsmann to walk in tomorrow and Leipzig are now out of the CL, I wouldn't expect him to jump ship before the end of the season) who is known for good coaching and let him quickly run rule over the squad to immediately cull/recruit in the transfer window.

Under José the team is coached like shit and the players seem to be downing tools, but that rot needs cutting out too.
This is exactly where I land. I can't imagine any decent manager jumping ship this late in the season, so we'd be looking at getting a caretaker in for what? An attempt at getting top 6?
Earnings for making EL is what 2-3mil? He might save more money by not sacking Jomo until the summer.

Maybe one positive thing that's come out of all of this is that it's now pretty much out in the open.
Jomo's most definitely amplified the issues, but they seem to have been around since Trippier left. You'd hope that Levy looks at this with the same concern everyone else on here does, and actually tries to fixit rather than bandaid it.

If he doesn't then it probably doesn't matter what manager we'll get.

I think Trippier alluded to this very point several times shortly after he left. He didn’t get into the details but from what I recall, he basically said the problems were not having an answer for losing Dembele and that the dressing room was fractured.

Things are starting to fall in to place aren't they.

Personally I was surprised when Dembele moved in a January window, especially seeing as we didn't have a replacement and we were still doing fairly decently up until that point.

I wonder if it ends up with Levy basically trying to split loyalties between what Levy sees as the club (which in reality is himself) and the manager at the time. Like two fighting parents trying to find out who the kids like better.

I mean, out of all other football managers or owners out there, is there anyone less likely to hold a player for ransom than Daniel Levy.

The god himself. Poch got sacked for daring to challenge Levy on transfers and lack of spending.

Poch haters will still twist this but the fact remains - Jose was backed way more than Poch and has delivered far less.

Poch was our best manager in a generation and the bald cunt didn't trust him so we lost him. The man truly had a connection with the club and fans. Jose is a plastic cunt who will NEVER be remembered even if he wins the shitty League Cup

Levy has damaged us for years to come

Agreed.

We never replaced Dembele, and this might sound be ridiculous, but I truly believe that we would have won the Champions League, made the top four and Poch would still be our gaffer with a nice, fat transfer kitty if he had never left.

Anyone got any inside information about why Dembele left?
Yes, he clearly couldn’t run or compete in the PL due to the hip injury

Should never have let him go half way through the season. They should have pulled out all the stops and nursed him through. I dare say the Chinese League is less competitive and physical than our league but he is still playing today so he could probably have still played a role until the end of that season with Spurs. Hindsight though I guess

Morning after the night before. I still feel shell shocked at how poor we were last night. Going into the match I was sure we wound see a reaction after the disgraceful NLD performance but I was badly wrong.

WTF is up with this team?? Back in December we were leading the league and could / should have beaten L’pool away but from then on we have turned to shit. Given up too many times in too many games.

Jose has to go, that will bring about a short term bounce but it wont fix the lack of quality in key positions or the weak minded attitudes of the players.

He's still here.

Ramos was only ousted after being bottom of the league. Mourinho left Chelsea in the bottom 3. Is that what it's going to take to sack him?

I was one part really proud of him for saying what he did and his attitude, but really upset by it because it is evident there is a very deep rot inside the team and maybe organization. So many of the comments were directed at certain players but the issues are obviously spreading like a cancer in the side.

This is not going to be a quick fix...

Poch suggested we needed a painful rebuild was it two or three years ago now?

Tripper himself said there were goings on at the club that weren't right. Hugo suggesting similar last night.

Some big decisions will need to be made before August. Decisions that will have a massive impact. Doing nothing other than extending contracts to protect depreciating assets is just one of the options on the table even though it shouldn't be.

You're spot on that it won't be a quick fix. It's already been dragging on for two years and is getting worse.

We practically chained him up. He wanted to leave the season before and we convinced him to stay another year!

He could no longer physically compete in the PL (and in our team with the role he did. Many people will look to his beauty on the ball, but the effort and intensity he put in off the ball puts PEH to shame, it was his role to slow up oppo attacks by showing them away from goal, allowing numbers back and time to get a shape).

He was one of my favourite Spurs players ever and I think the Club did all they could to keep him playing for us, they honoured their words to him and let him go.

He is merely regurgitating what his manager told him after the game. This is 100% on the management- a quality squad is poorly managed, poorly coached, lacking motivation and direction - the tactics are obsolete and the manager has to go!
Yes I think Jose has to go but some of the players have to pay the price too.

I'm sorry but we cannot put ALL of this on Jose. We cannot let players get away with having no pride and not playing for the club cos they're in a sulk. That just means that they'll do it again for the next guy who might not pick them.

There is no way back for Jose now but there should be no way back for some of the players either.

Crikey: confirmation bias much? Lloris has used the strongest words I’ve seen in a post-match interview for years. They are his words.

People talking about Trippier having problems with the club: everybody missed the interview where he explained it was because Poch wouldn’t confirm if he saw him in his plans the following season?

jesus. This place: we played shit...we have been for years - not months - Y-e-a-r-s...during Poch as well.
Anyone remember how everyone was livid after we lost Walker at the end of WHL and then weren’t so good? Anyone remember when Rose turned shit and we weren’t so good? When Dembele left and we weren’t so good? When Eriksen stopped playing well and we weren’t so good? When Dele’s brother got a job here and we weren’t so good? When Winksoko played in the diamond and we weren’t so good? When everyone blamed Trippier for every goal and then he left and we weren’t so good?

Christ alive. This place. It’s not one person’s fault! It’s players ageing and not buying enough quality replacements. Yes, Jose is a chequebook manager, but that team last night was the same attitude I’ve seen stinking up too many games for the past three years or so. It’s like the start of 19/20 season - remember getting slaughtered by Bayern or did that not happen now?

Let’s not rewrite history: this is the rebuild that happens when players age and managers change.
I don’t have a solution, but I know it’s not scapegoating one person: whole team were awful, as was - in hindsight- Jose’s team choice.
