What will be the point of the super league. 60% into the season, there will be 2-4 teams in the trophy race. There is no relegation, no top 4, no qualification for anything, so the other 10 teams will just be playing what amounts to late season mid-table games for half the year.

Coming up on Super Sunday;

03:00 Etihad vs Buccaneers
13:00 Red Bull vs Fenway
23:00 Emirates vs Dulux

PL would survive without these teams in it domestic wise. Issue is foreign fans who don't care about increases in ticket prices that go with this and the average fan being kicked out, because they will only ever watch on TV

But genuinely I don't think they will have a choice but to kick the clubs out of it who go for it and join.

It's a closed competition that generates 1/2 a billion in extra cash for the teams in it

And unlike the CL there is no way a club can get into it unless your invited. It's a like a cartel

Will kill the games in the PL will become like La Liga where it's a surprise if a team in it doesn't win by 4 every game.
Those other 14 clubs would lose billions in revenue if the PL kicked the big 6 out. They'd all be facing administration in a year or two.

I'm rooting for Southampton in this semi final, and it doesn't feel too bad actually.
Proper team.

Yep. The 6 would be so wealthy you wouldn't get shocks anymore bar perhaps 1 or 2 freakish results a season. The top 6 would remain the top 6 for evermore. Every other team playing for 7th. I think the premier league would have to act but Gary Neville is probably right, they'll see the reaction and crap themselves just like they did for game 39 and operation big project or whatever the hell it was called.

There'd be a top 8 going into a KO phase I imagine. One of the things I do like about US sports is there is only one trophy to win, rather than everything being diluted by multiple trophies.

Fuck me, we can't even do well in our DOMESTIC league.... imagine HOW BOTTOM of any Elite European league we'd finish each year...? ...we'd arguably be the worst team involved in the competition!

We'd certainly be the whipping boys along with Arse.

Regular cricket score tonkings from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich

Imagine Spurs in this super league :dembelelol:

We've rarely come close to winning the domestic league in 60 years. We haven't even reached an FA Cup final in 30 ffs!

This won't happen but if it ever did it would be the last straw and I'd turn my back on the club.

Maybe they have promised to give us a trophy for entering.
Open top bus parade with Lloris holding up a declaration of intent.

At least we wont be accused of buying the trophy.. just selling our soul.

As a US fan, I'll say the multiple competitions is one thing I enjoy about the European game. Multiple things to play for. It's not all "win the title or failure." There are inherent pros/cons with rewarding a champion based on total points vs knockouts and this allows for both. The top 4 is something to play for. Top 6 is something to play for. Relegation is something to play for. Cups are something to play for. Ultimately this is all entertainment, and the game is more entertaining when more games matter.

This is fucking ridiculous and if this happens then I'm switching to finding a non league club.

I just want to watch football at this point and I'm sick of them finding new ways to pull our pants down and make an extra buck off the tourists at the cost of the everyday fan.

That's it. I was a "maybe we can ask Levy to step aside and retire".

This has just pushed me the Levy get the fuck out of my club before you ruin it for everyone else.

The regular season feels so meaningless in US sports.

In the playoffs, some team that was mediocre all season just gets hot and wins the title, even though they aren't the best team.

Also, teams that realize they have no chance midway through the season just sell the good players and lose on purpose to get a high draft pick. There is no penalty for getting last place... there is actually a reward!

It's dreadful.

If we get kicked out of the PL, domestic cups etc where does that leave us......

A complete embarassment.

I agree with that mostly but the Superbowl is an incredible spectacle that only the CL final comes close too.

The big advantage US sport does have is it's stability. The structure won't be much different in 10, 20 or even 50 years.

I think we've arrived at a point that was inevitable once the CL became not just for Champions, it opened up a can of worms that's led here.
