Is there any timescale on this and when it would actually happen?

Are we sure that the media haven't just been played and the story has been leaked to gauge what the reaction will be?

Then, when it looks like nobody is going to accept it, they just turn round and say it was never going to happen?

There hasn't actually been any statements from any if these clubs yet has there?

When do we expect it to be either confirmed or denied?
A few of my mates reckon an announcement tonight at 9:30 but not sure where they seen that being bandied about...

End of days are here. Fuck them all. I’m off to support an English club playing in an English league for English trophies
Or a British league, playing for British trophies.
Leyton Orient it is.
And Bolton when I visit up north.
This has been on the cards for years. I’m pretty violated that Spurs are part of it.

Hmmmm. I'm surprised by some of the responses on here. My view for what its worth.

Probably wont happen, its just manoeuvring by the clubs to get a bigger slice of the uefa pie. Its been a regular event and usually works.

I am surprised by the venom it has attracted. Main arguments seem to be;

Its all about the rich getting richer - doh! The PL was set up to get the bigger teams a bigger slice of the cash, fuck the rest of the pyramid. People by and large didn't stop supporting thier clubs, in fact the exact opposite. PL teams went from strength to strength. Football is money, always has been always will be.

But it not fair people cry, its killing the lower league teams! Fuck em I say, they are by and large run by psychotic egomaniacs and if they cant run thier businesses at a profit why should my club bail them out? Have you seen the wages some champo/D1/D2 teams pay? Get to fuck.

It will stop teams getting up the pyramid - oh do fuck off. The PL parachute payments make that almost impossible. And why do I care if Burton Albion are involved in a battle for 16th place one year? I care about how Spurs do.

The PL will kick them out. LoL. just Lol. Drowning man wilfully destroys life vest. Not gonna happen.

I'm morally object to Spurs joining the Super Elite you say? Bullshit I say. Most people on here have wet dreams about Jeff Bezos taking over, constantly moaning that our billionaire owner is just unwilling to pump hundreds of millions into the club.

Sit back, enjoy the ride. It probably wont happen but if it does I want spurs right in the fucking thick of it.
If it does happen there are only a few things that are certain. All of the extra money will end up in pockets of players. The clubs will not become a beacon of sound financial management. They will still run at a loss. (except for Spurs, who will be managed as a model of financial sanity but still win fuck all.) And as sure as eggs are eggs in 25 years time the top six of the Super league will be threatening to breakaway into the world elite league unless they get a bigger slice of the pie.

Funny old game innit.

So right now these clubs are IN:

Spurs, Woolwich, Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barca, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juve, Inter and AC Milan.

Soon to follow will be PSG, Bayern and Dortmund. That's fifteen of the twenty clubs. Whom would make up the remaining five?

Reckon they would include another French team so that's likely to be Lyon. Maybe another from Germany which would be RB Leipzig. The other three? Have to pick one from Portugal, Netherlands and maybe Ukraine. Porto, Ajax and Shaktar.

Maybe they would include relegation but based on finances so if a club outside the twenty started to earn more money they'd replace whichever club was earning the least.

Depressing shit whichever way you look at it.

I hope everyone talking about giving up on big league football and finding a local team to support actually does it if this happens. I'm not saying that sardonically or to make a point: it'd be nice to see other people thinking the same way as I already do -- and offering more support to grassroots. The perversity of the industry and the lack of the modern game's connection to time and place, roots and heritage, and the common man is the reason I've never been able to support a club.

Sounds good to me, mate! I'll probably see you there: as a neutral supporter, all I do is tour games in different stadia around the country. We're probably going to do Leyton again soon.

Completely agree with this and many of the other posts on the preceding pages. However:
We have all been here so far while the club has been owned by a tax dodging invisible hedge fund; sold out countless times over sponsorship, have accepted VAR etc etc. I’m not picking a fight here, I’m as much of a hypocrite as anyone else. The feeling that this is a convenient excuse to ditch modern football and Spurs is palpable...

Exactly. Some teams have never recovered from being on the wrong side of the PL, and we were on the wrong side of the divide that happened when the CL was expanded to up to 4 teams. Those 4 teams were locked in placed for years. It was effectively a closed shop. Who was complaining then and fighting our corner? No one was. And what we've learned from this is that it's better to be on the right side of the tracks than the wrong ones.
