Well Henry should know.

He wrecked his reputation as a striker going to a Barcelona side, where he fit in like a racehorse in a squad of ballet dancers.

Henry is right. It's just that Bales agent will not see it that way. Thus neither will Bale, in all probability.
 
Someone (maybe it will be me) should buy up every edition of todays' Independent, take the article out, highlight it in big bright colours, with big arrows pointing at the important, relevant bits... and post them all directly through Gareth's front door!!

(I can find a use for the rest of the newspapers before the first match of the new season, trust me!) :balesnarl: :freund:

I remember saying something last year about how vdV should take Modrić under his wing and say, "look, buddy, playing for Madrid isn't all it's cracked up to be". But people have unreasonable fantasies about wanting to play for Madrid, and that's that. It's like Louis Armstrong playing with a string orchestra. It sounds ridiculous and treacly, but it was his aspiration from childhood.
 
Personally, I think AVB should sit Bale down alone in a darkened room, and show him a highlights DVD of Modric's 'best bits' from the season just gone... then follow it up with Bale's own highlights package for Spurs in the same season... then just leave him there with his thoughts for an hour or so...
that should do the trick!
