Just to clarify, these stories in the press are coming from Kane’s advisors. Kane wanted out when Poch lost his job but decided to stay to see how Jose’s reign would pan out. Sadly, Kane became very disgruntled with Jose’s style very early on.
Essentially, Kane has asked for a transfer, without formally submitting a transfer request, which would jeopardise his loyalty payment.
And selling Kane has nothing to do with ambition or lack of ambition; rather, it is the simple fact that players decide transfers nowadays. If Kane wants to leave, it’s down to Levy to negotiate the best deal. And that might mean selling to another EPL club. Again, Kane will decide which club he wants to join and all the indications are that he wants to stay in England.
The reason that Man Utd and Man City keep being mentioned is because these 2 clubs have been in touch with Kane’s agent. Chelsea remain the wild card because it is suspected that Abrahamovic likes the idea of a star striker.
Don’t forget that the clubs above will be desperate to appease angry fans and signing Kane will be part of that process.
The deal might be about £120 million because that’s the figure being bandied about, albeit it will be paid over 5 or 6 years depending on the length of the contract signed. That’s standard protocol and is very similar to the structure of the deal when Spurs sold Bale.
Kane will be sold in the summer. Kane wants to leave and that’s the deciding factor. Notwithstanding that £120 million is the estimated figure, I wouldn’t mind betting that the final figure is closer to £150 million.
