I do not understand how Scott Parker is so highly rated I have seen nothing that he should even be looked at s one for the future. I cannot believe Daniel Farke has not been mentioned he has won the Championship twice with Norwich and has a years experience in the Premier League plays good football and has mas Buendia look unplayable against in the Championship this season and has helped to develop a lot of young players at Norwich.

Parker is English and likely is friendly with much of the media reporting on this. Farke on the other hand is not. So, regardless of merit, Scott is going to be tipped for the gig. Much like the Athletic's staff love to pimp Bobby Martinez for the role even though everyone else on planet earth has no desire for a manager who seems to create collanders, not working football teams.

Has a Spurs beat reporter said anything other than this is not happening? I would not trust any aggregator accounts or Italian reports. The people with the most reliable connections to the club have said that no Serie A managers are being considered, so until that changes, I can't see any likelihood of it happening.
Problem here is that it is obvious that the club is not feeding the Spurs reporters (Gold, Kilpatrick etc) anything in regards to legit names.

Every single piece by Gold these last few weeks with any names mentioned are just people that we already knew that the club appreciated (Nagelsmann, Rodgers, Martinez, Potter etc).

Gold is literally reposting the same article every day more or less because all the info he is getting is "We are working on it and evaluating our options".

Mostly, although they did confirm we made the approach to Ten Hag, and have said that no Italian managers were considered. ITK though, is the purest of bullshit, and I put no stock in it. There's no point commenting on ITK since it can be anyone from a 12-year old to a betting company employee trying to goose someone's odds so they can make a killing.

That was debunked. We never made a approach to Ten Hag as I understand it. Ajax got wind of us possibly being interested and activated the extension in his contract.

Unfortunately we are not in a position to win anything because we don't invest in the team like City, Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool do. Not only do they spend more but they also have more successful transfers than failures which is not the case with us. So with the likelihood that we are not going to win trophies, what else do we have to look forward to? That's why being able to watch good attacking football is essential for me

No we don't have to do a Leeds where we win heavily and lose heavily. I loved the way we went out and played under Redknapp, under Poch we played positively, so it can be done without having to sacrifice anything defensively.
We have invested in the team in the last 2 years but the key is transfers working out and that has not happened for a few years. That can be improved and we were more successful with transfers a few years ago during ENIC's reign. Bale, Modric and Berbatov to name just 3. It has to be the lack of good scouting that is the problem and we can change that.

How is Parker even being talked about? He just got his team relegated for crying out loud. If he wasn't a former player he wouldn't even be mentioned.

If we're seriously considering him then why not Gus Poyet?!

Bollocks. 😂

Is Hitchen actually making this decision? Neither him or baldy is fit to make it. I hope it goes to a Board vote.
I assume that both will interview the Managers on the shortlist that want to be interviewed and will decide between them with Levy out ruling Hitchen if they disagree. Whilst Levy watches a lot of Tottenham matches I doubt he watches much else and will hopefully have other football people to get feedback from. In view of Kane's importance to the team, I would think he would listen to what he says as well.

It will be a consensus decision ultimately controlled by Levy. But I think you're right that we've reached a point where Hitchen guides a lot of Levy's thinking on how to bring his vision of forward-thinking football into reality.

In a true DoF model it would be the DoF's call, though certainly with input from the board.

In either case, while seeking the input of senior members of the squad is wise, they probably shouldn't be involved in the actual interview and hiring process.

The funny/sad thing is that Hitchen was the guy who scouted Modric for us and he was probably involved in the scouting of Berbatov as well to some degree since he was our "European continent" scout at the time under Comolli.

At the end of the day I think that Hitchen is probably a okay scout. But probably not suited for the current role that he has been given (yet?).

I think situation 2 is not that bleak. We can find a lot of very good young talent to replace players. They won't necessarily be top 4 contenders next year in that case, but will get you out of your seat. Most clubs in Europe are facing very bad financial situations and this summer will have a lot of forced sales to balance the books (especially in France).

Given that we need to overhaul the squad anyway, if we can take advantage of the situation to stock up on good players while focusing more on getting rid of bad players than getting good prices for them, we could give the new "project" manager a much more positive situation even if Kane or Son were to leave. The other plus side is if you buy kids who didn't go to the Euros, but instead had a proper summer break, you could have a fitness advantage next year over teams whose players did play in the Euros. Especially given the way the schedule gets ruined by the World Cup next year.

I don't know that we're smart enough to do this, but the potential is there to do it, and it would not be a disaster.
Thanks for your reply, and you are right in that we should be more optimistic. But my worry is your last sentence, I don't think we have the right people in charge of scouting - let's hope I'm wrong :)
