Nabil Bentaleb Nabil Bentaleb have you noticed him play?

Obviously haven't seen him play and while I like the idea of going after younger, supposed quick technical players, I am not sure I would understand the move for this player. He doesn't appear to be ready to start in the PL and we already have Tanganga and Rodon as development guys.

If money isn't an concern this summer, which we now it is, buying him and leaving him where he is to develop makes sense but it seems like for the price we likely have to pay it makes more sense to get a guy that is younger, with a higher upside or similar age and ready to play in the PL.

Even if it is unlikely there is anything to it I would prefer a link like this than links to older mediocore CB's.

Lacroix seems like he has big potential. Will likely move through the usual RB ⏩BVB ⏩ Munich production line instead of coming to a team like us though sad

Very much inspired by Five Five 's efforts last summer I did a Hojbjerg lowlights vid when we were linked:

RE: Hojbjerg

Just to add weight to the ones Five Five posted, here are the bits from the Arse game I flagged up in the other match thread:

First sequence under only moderate pressure he balloons a pass to his team mate then whacks it at another team mate he's so scared of it exploding in his face.

Then next sequence twice in quick succession he has the chance to turn forwards but just bunts it backwards putting his defender under pressure and results in a goal

Third sequence, defender bringing it out, looks for Hojbjerg, who's in space, to take it off him, Hojbjerg doesn't even look to see if he can take it, just too worried in case he is marked (he isn't) so stands there pointing (where have we seen that before) for the CB to go backwards unnecessarily

All stuff we've seen plenty of this season

Yeah this really worries me .
His play in possession very limited and there's a reason we don't progress the ball well enough against decent teams when this is him 'showing for it' . His passing is very negative.

I said all of this when we were link too. But his initial performances won me over and I apologised. I think I was right all along. Lovely bloke but not the ball playing ability we require

I think fans love a trier don’t they, he’s got a decent mentality, he just lacks the footballing tools to cash the cheques his mentality would like to write. He’s also athletically challenged too, which isn’t his fault I guess.

He was an improvement on the lazy, pointy cunt and Dweedle Dee, but that’s hardly an exclusive club.

Five Five Doc Doc
You two should have a joint thread where you scout potential transfer targets and rate them.

I feel that most fans like me (and maybe Hitchens?) get their impression of most players from 3 different ways:
a) watching players play against Spurs
b) a handful of big European matches
c) highlight reels on YouTube

For various reasons neither of those two methods are reliable or necessarily representative of the player.

It worries me. He's about 8 years younger than Alderweireld but they seem to be in the same ballpark when it comes to mobility. Lots of PL CBs are slow, to be fair about it.

Fo shiz, and amongst them Andersen maybe doesn’t look terribly out of place, I’m sure he’ll earn a living, but you watch these guys and then watch someone like Kounde and it blows your mind, he’s like a box to box CB, he’s technically more comfortable than most of our midfield.

If a number of clubs won’t deal with us, who are they? I’ve looked and can’t find any, but you must be able to back it up or you would t keep banging the drum. So the floor is yours. Post a few and I’ll admit that I’m wrong.
I just gave you an example of one - there are others who have also spoken about him as a terrible person to deal with. Do you expect them to put official club statements? Don’t be daft.
