He’s been doing a decent job for Marseille and If he switches back to CB he may turn out to be well above average, but I wouldn’t say he’s world class midfielder potential personally, more of a deluxe Declan Rice maybe? He’s athletically built, reasonably mobile, but his technical ability and passing are just ordinary for a midfielder, he’s not super press resistant either.
I'm going on seeing probably 3 games at CB and 4 at midfield, but yeah I'd have thought he looks to have good prospects at both positions. He actually carries the ball with style and shields it really well and his chipped passing is at a high level. Maybe the WC terming seems generous, but I just get that feel watching him, kind of like when I first saw Alaba play, just some inherent competetive quality. Ferguson saw it in Phil Jones, so what do I know?

I could never commit to a thread, I'd be sure to come out with some disastrous takes. I will say this much, there's some silly ITK flutterings today linking us with Boubacar Kamara. He has the makings of a world class player in midfield and central defence, one of the closer player comps you could find to Kounde. Not sure if there's anything in it, but I'd love us to sign him.
I don't really see the Kamara and Kounde comparisons. Kounde is a centre back and Kamara a DM (used to play CB however) that can drop down into the backline when needed to.

Based on what I have seen of Kamara over the last few years I would compare him more to Ndidi and Kante with a bit of Wanyama thrown in. A strong ball winner and defensive terrier in midfield.

He would definitely be a good get if we could land him.

I am to lazy to look it up , but i am sure I have heard a few similar stories, with attributable quotes. Ferguson definitely had a pop

i reckon if you and I only talk Levy and ENIC and nothing else we could be best buddies, as long as after four pints we did not change the subject
I recall Fergie saying dealing with Levy was more painful than his hip replacement operation.

Levy had it in for Ferguson over the Berbatov deal, as Fergie was asked if Berba would join United, Levy accused him of tapping the player up. This in turn pissed Ferguson off, so he has been vocal about his distaste for Levy.

A couple of things - this doesn’t equate to a number of clubs refusing to deal with us. And I’d much rather we had a chairman that fights back when “bigger” clubs come circling our best players, than one who bends over and touches his toes.

The original comment I had issue with was clubs refusing to deal with us, now it’s clubs being a bit chippy about Levy. Now we are getting closer to the truth and further from fantasy.

If we can raise the funds

Poor old Joe and Daniel

If we have to sell before we can buy a painfully average CB for 20 mil then let's brace ourselves for yet another season sat watching Sissoko , Dier , Sanchez etc waddle around a football pitch every week because the rebuild we so desperately need ain't happening

Only 60 quid to have the privilege of watching such a footballing treat , bargain

He's another Steve Hitchen bargain-bin special.

Our bargain bin signings have turned out much better than our expensive ones.

We’ve spent almost £200m on Sissoko, Sanchez, Ndombele and Lo Celso, have they been good just because they were expensive? Was Lamela better than Eriksen even though he cost 3 times as much?

Andersen seems to be a good player with the right attitude and hunger that we are looking for. I’d rather buy him for £20m than take a punt on some £50m player. Players who are truly worth that kind of fee do not want to join Tottenham. We are letting ourselves get fleeced if we give in to that sort of fee.

Net spend Utd!!...Net spend Utd!!....lets celebrate Net spend Utd!! :freundgoal:

Back later lads, I'm now off to work out my weekly shopping budget on a 2002 Windows XL spreadsheet

I don’t see them playing as first choice players, agree though. Everything goes thru PEH, in every single game and I’m not impressed

For me central midfield is as big, if not bigger problem than centre back. Imagine this defence with Dembele and Wanyama in front of them. There’s no way it would look as bad as it has. Hojbjerg needs to be a rotation option with two new central midfielders bought in. Moving winks, sissoko on and bringing two players in would transform us.

Nobody wants us to be a push over and get our tummies tickled surely?

I certainly don’t. But as we’ve seen, there are some who believe we don’t have a chance with some players as there’s a list of clubs that don’t do business with us due to Levy’s negotiating tactics.

But I have the feeling if Levy wasn’t like this, the same people would be giving him shit for being too nice.

We don´t have a number 10, no one that can see and make those opening passes that is needed when playing in possession (I´m counting on us bringing in a possession minded attacking new coach) and trying to break through a parked bus defence.

Ndombele is great att coping with preassure, bud to be honest he hasn´t given us many points. Right now, he´s more of a youtube player then anything else.

Lo Celso is also a bit strange. He´s like a new Lamela, the same skillset, always injured, painfully left footed. Maybee att bit better att defending and link up play but not much.

What we need is to sell one of these or both and bring in a number ten. Graelish?

I think both need to be playing further up the field than playing deep in midfield, Gio had a good goal return for betis and Ndombele seems better suited playing just behind the front 3.

Yep. I think Skipp will be better than Holberg so perhaps that’s one

I think we have a problem to solve internally first. Kane seems to be playing a lot deeper than before and we need to work out why.

Is it because we were playing defensively and he naturally wanted to close the gap between defence and attack?

Does he want to be a number 10?

Is he playing in that are because we don’t have a number 10?

Or is the fact that he’s choosing to play there a reason we don’t play one, so therefore should be looking for a new number 9?

In my head it's pretty clear that he's playing so deep because we're simply getting overrun in midfield and he's dropping deeper to provide support.
