it's a game of politics:
- PSG quite rightly want to save face
- PSG would rather have compensation then let him walk
- Levy wants to pay as little compensation as possible
For PSG they are likely to want a manager lined up that will take them to the next level and please the fans. This could be Conte
We have likely shown an interested in Poch but would rather he resigned and his contract was cancelled by mutual consent. In order for this to happen PSG need a replacement lined up.
None of this impacts deals for new players being worked on, lots are either on holiday or away with their national team for the Euros so another week really makes very little difference. For Spurs they can likely save £5-10m if they manage this right. It's not chump change here.
The reports of Ten Hag are likely circulating to put pressure on PSG, so they realise they might be left with an unhappy manager when they really prefer someone else.
I wonder if the hold up is actually PSG securing their new manager, they likely want this tied up before Poch is allowed to leave so we have to be patient.
