I will be back alter to ask questions...

very interesting, I'm sure part of the rationale behind the interest in him is how the bulk of the current squad suits his tactics, and his appeal in us is how quickly he can utilise them.

Doherty, Sergio for instance, both their strengths seem to be higher up the pitch. We have Son and Kane for out and out strikers with Le Celso, and Ndombele pressing from behind. With his formation there might only be a need to sign 2/3 players, with shifting some deadwood I see that as being feasible both financially and logistically without having to scrap the entire team.

So I understand how the move appeals to both parties. As a coach (no matter how good) you don't really want to go to a club where the current crop of players seem incompatible with your ethos. Perhaps he sees our issues and figures it's mostly a coaching problem so easily resolved.

Depends how they want to do it.

If Conte is in Italy, he'd have to self isolate before coming into the UK. I doubt that would stop an announcement though.

I'd imagine we'll get more updates from Fab Romano today.
Yea I can’t see an announcement being held back just because they wouldn’t be able to post a photo of Levy and Conte holding a Spurs kit.

That being said for all we know well get more “Poch confirmed” rumours in the coming hours

I fully understand that. And in certain ways Levy has achieved alot. However, it should not entirely be at the expense of the football club. We are the 9th richest club in the world, yet for the last 2 seasons, it has been more exciting to watch Villa, Leicester, Wolves...... We have become a business that has football for entertainment and not a FC that has businesses.

We have not given one manager in the last 20 years carte blanche to manage the team. They always have some string attached. It shouldn't work like that. We should be having managers lining up to manage Spurs, Instead most dodge us.

I feel your pain but they are trying to create an infrastructure that isn't dependant on a single point of failure. If you have a manager running EVERYTHING, and like Everton he is nabbed overnight you're screwed. It doesn't always work out but by separating operations, development and transfers you're able to carry on without collapsing. The problem with this is interoperability.

When I look back at the managers we've signed in recent years I think the following were decent:

  1. 'arry, he was brought in and re-energised us, and gave us belief and some amazing nights
  2. AVB was seen as one of the hottest prospects at the time
  3. Poch, was a gamble but we were well advised
  4. Jose was a serial winner and it was fair to believe he could turn our fortunes
I reckon there are quite a few candidates that have thrown their hat into the ring, lots (regardless of Levy), would jump at the chance to manage us but I think their is an internal hesitation due to Jose that is making us cautious. Perhaps they felt they rushed the last appointment and don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Even if a coach was announced yesterday, half the squad are on holiday, the other half are in the Euros. I don't think any potential coach isn't currently researching our team and watching old footage in preparation.

Pay an Italian photographer for some pics. Do a zoom interview perhaps. Then just hype up his arrival and dedicate more or less an entire day to his "first day on the job" when he arrives.

Problem solved.

We can't ask for much more, Conte or Poch are the best options on the market. Now, I'm just wondering will Levy make his promises and actually rebuild this squad

Really can't see Conte coming unless he's given some promises in that area, tbh (like not selling Kane for example).

He would 100% fuck off quickly if Levy screwed him over.

Someone in a suitable media position can probably answer this:

If Tottenham and their new manager is trending online, pushing lots of traffic through various news outlets from clickbait, how does this impact us financially?

Is it a little shot in the arm on our social appeal? Can we monetise this extra interest? Does it bump our numbers up which is passed onto sponsors to show we're hitting our SM targets thus upping the amount we can generate from such deals?

I'm pretty convinced these metrics work in our favour, if they aren't utilised this way then Tottenham need to give me a job as they are wasting this opportunity.

They certainly are NOT rushing it !

I'd love to think this was the rationale behind it and they'd looked into the football side that much but suspect its a lot more.....he's available without paying compensation, it will appease a lot of the fanbase, a big name winner could keep Kane here for another season.
