I think I can answer the 2nd bit to some extent
Hercules always used to post on SC and was considered a village idiot as his 'itk' was crap, at best a disection of what all journos had in heir columns.
However when JJSet (who had correct info) left SC, they needed an ITK so as to have an excuse to pass round the beggoing bowl (or so it seemed to many)....... and Mr Hercules was no longer considered a village idiot but a master ITK.
Information hasn't improved of course !
I feel that our shot at getting Champions League football is over because we are going to fail to rebuild our defense. Everyone and his dog knows our defense is a disaster and we have just sold our most talented defender even though he was ageing. If we go into this season relying on Dier, Sanchez and Rodon we are fucked no matter who is in charge of footballing decisions. Why bother? This is the problem with Romero deal they know how desperate we are because we failed to sell Sanchez a few years ago when we knew he was a bust.
Yeah we would suffer in possession but I like the idea of competent, aggressive defenders first and foremost. Some reliability in there for the first time in years.
From what I've seen of Romero he's no prime Vertonghen in possession. I don't think Diaz is spectacular either though he does have Stones next to him.
Atalanta were eyeing Demiral so I wouldn't be shocked if we were interested.
Outside of the Barca rumors, which seem like total bullshit, it doesn't appear that anyone is particularly interested in Romero outside of Spurs. £40-45m for a guy Atalanta just bought for £17m is very good business, and there's no guarantee his value will hold.
Also, if they exercise Romero's buy option from Juventus, don't they need to negotiate a new contract with him? Maybe there is some provision in the buy clause where this isn't an issue, but I'd imagine it's not as simple as just paying Juventus the buy out fee. And all reports indicate that Romero wants to come and he'd make a lot more at Spurs than at Atalanta.
Romero has to report back next Monday, so hopefully that accelerates things a bit.
