Nice haircut
Thanks Sir
Yeah it is, from our perspective, not in this context though. Not defending Enic, but the way some people throw around 5m quid like it's just pennies is quite astonishing.
It's a lot of bloody money.
It is, but it's nothing compared to the vast sums of money we've wasted on transfers and wages for the likes of Sissoko and Ndombele. Not defending Enic, but the way some people throw around 5m quid like it's just pennies is quite astonishing.

You know what else is a lot of bloody money ?Not defending Enic, but the way some people throw around 5m quid like it's just pennies is quite astonishing.

Jesus, that guy is as mentally challenged as a few on here
Hercules and Arcspace both totally incorrect about the Grealish transfer.

What makes me laugh is you know these guys would scream the gaff down if the barmaid short changed them by 10p.Not defending Enic, but the way some people throw around 5m quid like it's just pennies is quite astonishing.

LOL.
Haha so do ILOL.
The thing is I always visualise the poster as their avatar pic..
Lamela was the record signing. When we signed Sanchez he was our record signing.
Until we signed Ndombele.
I think Soldado was also a record signing at the time-maybe I'm wrong.
So pardon me if I don't want to spend loads of money on players especially a player who has had one good season it appears and whose owning club agreed to sell for £12m.

So you have classed him in the VvD/Dias bracket. If that is the bracket he is in, then I agree. But how sure are you that that is the case? Have you really analyzed him that well and compared all his strengths and weaknesses to other top class CBs? Or are you just assuming he's that good? His value is certainly not what Transfermarkt says.
Look at what similar players are going for and then go from there.
Here’s what I know if we pay 60m and he’s good nobody will give a fuck that we didn’t get him for 50m. If he’s shit nobody will care that we got him on a deal for 45m.
At some point with players at his level if you value them as top class players you should pay the price it costs. If reports are true that they want 55m and we want to pay 45m I think we are much worse off walking away than going closer to their price.
For me if you value him at 45m then 55m is not an overpay.
If they don’t want to overpay for low level guys at the 15-20m sure haggle over pennies but with the top level guys there is value in paying a little more to get them in. As we have seen with guys like Alisson, Dias, VVD.
If we were 100% sure that this guy would transform our defense, then I don't think we would be that cautious. It's the fact that we might spend 60 million on a guy that could only turn out to be "fine starting for us" that is giving us pause from ponying up what Atalanta is asking.Romero has shown a lot more than Sanchez had by the time we got him in a better league, as well being more impressive internationally. Sanchez was bought a lot on his potential and physical attributes, Romero is coming in based much more on the play he already has shown rather than projections.
Doesn’t mean he will be a guarantee to work out but I think he has a very small chance of being a total flop like Sanchez. In my view the concern with Romero is more that if he comes he is not the world class level defender and only an ok defender, but even then still a guy that is fine starting for us.
