We need a partner for Romero. No point signing a top CB to play with Sanchez or Dier.
Well having 1 competent CB is better than 0. It's a start.

I'd also like to think Rodon is given a chance ahead of those two. A Rodon/Romero pairing looks decent on paper.

I can't really see the second centre back we bring in being miles ahead of Rodon anyway given the kinds of funds we are talking. More likely it's a similar punt on a future prospect (looking at you Milenkovic).

We're basically pinning our hopes on Romero single-handedly saving our defence and raising the game of those around him. (With a little help from Tomiyasu hopefully).

Personally i think the jury is out on rodon. The united home game caused a red flag for me. Not sure hes our level. Same applies to doherty.

Di Marzio:

"Instead the parties left badly and the meeting did not have the desired effects. The negotiation could even be permanently skipped. In the next few hours there will be further contacts between the parties to understand the margins to mend and, if necessary, resume the discussion already well underway in recent days."

Not true though; the reports are that Spurs are the ones who compromised on the price. Atalanta standing firm on their original valuation, no agreement despite our offer being very close.
Sources suggest Spurs are absolutely furious.
We are no longer in a position to negotiate - we have fucken Dier and Sanchez starting in 2 weeks. Pay what they want and get his man here so we can have at least half a defence!

As it stands we’ve actually weakened our squad so far this window. Paratici seems a fraud - worrying signs
