Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In one sense he is right, in that footballers rarely make it to the end of a contract. But the crucial point is, the contract has immense worth to a selling club, if a player has years left to run. For us, it means we get to ask for a big price, or the would-be buyer can be told to fuck off.
Half the time they don’t come to an end because a player forces a move and the team folds like they should feel sorry for the player. Bullshit.

I blame Kane for this
Where’s the KFC?? You no better than Levy

He could always put in a transfer request and personally take a financial hit for this transfer.
At this point it's not like he can make out it's a reluctant move.

Why should we as a club sell him for less than Coutinho was sold just because he doesn't fancy honouring his contract any more?

There's talk of him penning a contract that would secure him £100mil basic salary!

We refused to sell Modric to Chelsea, he continued to play well for us and we sold him a year later to Real Madrid. I'm quite happy for us to keep Kane for another year and I'm sure he will be a productive player because he is too good, and too driven, not to be.

Modric isn't Kane. Modric was never seen as Mr. Spurs like Harry Kane has been to many over the years, so it's hardly a fair comparison.

From the BBC

"Harry Kane, a transfer target for Manchester City, has not returned to the Tottenham training ground as expected on Monday morning amid speculation over his future.

The striker was scheduled to have coronavirus testing on Monday before starting training on Tuesday.
Kane has had a three-week break after helping England reach the Euro 2020 final.

Spurs have offered no explanation for why the 28-year-old did not turn up."

This is confusing, does this mean he was supposed to show up to the ground for his Covid test?
According to this he isn't due to start training until tomorrow.

Are we all dancing around here off the back of Sly Sports fake news?

Said this once and I’ll say it again. I wish he’d stay, but if it comes down to him playing one more season and getting sold next, that’s a bad move. He needs to be sold now. First we aren’t gonna win the league this year with him and his value is as high as it will be and the chances of him having a better season this year than last is low. Plus with his injury record you never know what will happen. Get 120 for him and buy a 23 year old up and comer.

At the end of the day, Harry doesn't owe the club anything. Where would we have been without his goals? For some reason some people seem to think that because he has played for the club for a long time now and has an affinity with the club that it means he has to stay regardless. The club has shown no ambition and any top player worth their salt wouldn't want to hang around.
Harry owes it to all those kids who think the world of him and he is their idol.
They have his shirt, he is the England skipper and he fucks around like this.
Do the right thing Harry and get back out onto the park and train.

Are we really gonna lose it because Harry didn’t show up to training today he’ll nah everybody who isn’t a Tottenham fan want Harry to move and will find any kind of foolishness to push this agenda,

Yeah, Sky were always going to try make a story today anyway. Happy to look past today and think he will be there tomorrow. Surly can have a Covid test elsewhere.

How are we in the driving seat? Since when has it started to be a good thing for any club to keep an unhappy player around?

If Kane is forced to stay and he plays he'll get abuse the moment supporters insist he's not giving 100%. Even at the back end of last season you could clearly see his performance level drop.
He signed a 6 year contract without a get out clause linked to team performance...he can't just conjure up some clause from thin air and expect it to stick...

I could be wrong but I don't think he would have been let into the training ground without a test. Or if he had he would have had to isolate at the lodge until a negative test result. Like Nuno, Gollini and Patrici all did when reporting in.

But Kane has a house in London so it makes sense for him to isolate there until he gets his test result.
