Apologies, I wasn't having a dig or disputing that Ndombele is indeed lazy.

It was mainly the earlier suggestion that Aurier and Sissoko were lazy, they aren't. Error-prone/pretty shit yes, lazy no
I don't think he is lazy, and he must have a great engine to play the way he does, but Aurier has a tendency to switch his brain off at very important moments ... Exhibit A: Zagreb away.

Sissoko most certainly is lazy, a lot. Hiding from the ball, letting people run off him, not tracking back or getting back into posision with haste, he is shockingly lazy.

Aurier not so, I dont think, he just doesnt concentrate enough and always has an error in him.

Laporte + enough money to pay for most of Vlahovic and Martinez and we're golden.
Paratici would have to earn his money convincing Laporte to come (and somehow bringing in both Vlahovic/Martinez), but the sell could be that he needs to be starting in a WC year, we're building a promising team, and maybe put a release clause of 60m in his contract for future Barca/Madrid/whoever interest. Also a Spanish speaking partner for Romero. A boy can dream.

Jesus isn’t good enough there is a reason Pep plays 4-6-0 rather than use him. Laporte and Silva should be the ones we look at.

True, but perhaps that is needed too. Managers like Ferguson were often great at man management not just by being soft and cuddly, but by knowing when to kick the shit out of a player and when to put your arm round him, when to call him out in public / in front of his team mates, and when do to do in private, when to criticise and when to praise. I believe it's an art that can't be taught, and there are all sorts of different characters who seemed to have that special gift, ranging from cuddly Bobby Robson through jack-the-lack gangster-type Venables to cup-throwing Fergie, all completely different characters, but all seeming to have a way to use a mixture of styles of man management to make their players motivated to play better for them. Did Jose have sufficient mix of styles? I'm not sure. (You could of course argue that it was his treatment of Shaw that put him back on the right path - god knows. I did say hoping Nuno could turn N'Domdele around was only potential optimism... lol :) )
Yes Venables did a great job with Gascoigne. Basically let him run riot around London with Danny Baker and Chris Evans. Eventually blew up and ruined his career.
With hindsight..if he had gone to Utd Ferguson would have sorted him out and he would have been the great player he should have been.

True but this isn't the 80's

Game is far quicker paced and full of wall to wall athletes now. Back in Waddles day they were still going down the boozer for 8 pints after the game.
True, but it's more about perception against reality. Waddle was perceived to be knackered, with his stooped over posture and how he walked. The reality was that he was actually extremely fit and had a rare turn of speed.

This isn't defending Ndombele btw, who I also think has been lazy. I'm just commenting that your eyes can be deceived.

I don't care if Ndombele doesn't look like the energiser bunny from minute one, so long as he plays like he is. So far though, he hasn't, and it doesn't look like the situation has changed if he's being left out of all our preseason games.

I hate jumping to conclusions with anyone, but he's had 2 seasons with us now and just seems to have this "I've made it" demeanour to him, where he's quite happy to coast along on £200k a week because he'll never need to work again after this contract is up. I'm dubious that any manager could shake him out of that mindset.
I hope I'm wrong but, if not, what a criminal waste of a generational talent.

Agreed, I would bite their hand off for Laporte + Silva + around £50m. That's comfortably above £150m in total value.
We then use that £50m to sign Vlahovic and we're pretty much done. We'd then be a much stronger team compared to just keeping Kane.

But that's some straight up FIFA shit, don't see it happening at all tbh.

Ffs can people stop demanding City players in return. They're human beings and no one can force any of them to agree to come to Spurs.
That's not how life works.
The tweet says they have been offered by City. If true, big if of course, that would suggest both are potentially open to joining us after speaking to the city hierarchy. City are not going to offer players who flat out refuse to move or to move here.

Gazza is as thick as pig shit and would have been kicked out of United within a few years once Fergie realised he was unmanageable

I agree but if there’s any truth to the rumour then you’d also expect city to have spoken to both of them to see if they’d be open to it. Similar to us and Sanchez

They're being offered by City is probably made up for one and there is nothing obliging the players to agree.
Whilst it can work (Lamela going one way and Gil the other) the circumstances here are very different. City are absolutely elite. We aren't. We aren't even close. And we'll be worse without Kane.
Why would 2 players who could go to clubs in a better position than us come to us?
