He didn't have a bad Euros.
Didn't he come on and make some late mistakes which led to goals being conceded. I seem to remember that.Did he? I didn't notice. No one here commented on that. I thought he was fine throughout
As was always gonna be the case.
Scouting players based upon the Euros is never a good idea.
Yes, I got the same impression, ie Torres being great in Europa. I do want us to buy him.Scouting players based upon the Euros is never a good idea.
Whenever I watched Villareal in the Europa League Torres was great.
Cheers.Well, yeah, he'd improve them I guess. Better than Fred/McTominay, though Fred can be quite good on his day. He's young, don't think he has world class potential or anything like that. Was very impressed with him in some games for West Ham last year, but mostly against the big teams in games where WH had less of the ball and he'd make a few strong runs, tackle hard and be tidy in possession. Had a few good games at the Euros.. but England were ultimately a pretty dull team due to playing both Rice and Phillips. What'll he be like in a possession dominant side with Pogba, Bruno either side of him? Not sure, he's not super quick at moving the ball, but he's very good defensively. A lot to expect of him slotting in as a 6 for Manchester United in a 4-3-3 this season. Overall, I think he'd probably be a good enough signing. At his age, and HG and a good quality player WH have every right to ask for a high fee, but he's no world beater. There's probably a different direction for them to go in if they want a title challenge this year.
What the fuck have we become
Not particularly. He's an elite set piece taker but his general play is very basic. Aouar, Bissouma, Locatelli available for same or less.
The only game he came on late was against Croatia (55 mins. The other times he came on was at 12 minutes vs Italy and 23 mins vs Slovakia). I don't remember him being any more at fault for the Croatia equalisers than the rest of the team, who had a collective hissy fit.Yes, I got the same impression, ie Torres being great in Europa. Maybe my memory is failing me, but I remember Torres coming on a few times late on and making a few nervous mistakes for Spain.
It’s interesting that Nuno wants him out.
On the one hand that’s crazy but on the other you can certainly see how a manager that emphasizes togetherness and culture the way Nuno does would be hesitant to have a wantaway superstar in his dressing room.
He’d also surely have a big voice in the spending of all that money which probably appeals to him.
