No I see what people are trying to do with the Wigan example. What I am pointing out to you is that with every other club that we claim are around us Wigan doesn't get brought up because they have actual success.

Saying "well Wigan won a Cup would you like to be like them" is a shit argument. Used by clubs that have no success.

People might think that it is a good argument to determine whether a Cup win determines if you are a better or worse off as a club but all it does is show how weak we have been under ENIC.
And the thing is, we all know if we’d been taking the cups seriously over the past decade we would not have an empty trophy case. It’s a choice we’ve made.

Against Wolves there were at least two shots by them from the top of the box where the player was wide open and they skyed it over the net. Leaving guys wide open like that is not good defense.

It's % though curling into top corner from the edge of the box isn't the same the Adama chance I would say that the only chance a teams had against us in 3 games that I would expect someone to score most of the time

And that's good going

Everybody saying not signing a striker is criminal look no striker with any talent and ambititon is gonna play behind Harry Kane he is hardly injured and always scoring there is no chance.

Maybe their fans dont make the claim that they are worse off now than they were some 20 years ago because then they won the FA cup and havent done so since, when it really obvious they arent (worse off). I dont expect you to understand though, so I'll leave it at that.

Doesn’t need to be Messi. Vinnie was fine, he came on in our lesser games and was a 1 in 2 goals player, enabled us to rest Kane while having a clear focal point.

City - 18 shots
Wolves - 25 shots
Watford - 9 shots

Anyone thinking Dier and Sanchez are reliable need to watch the games a bit closer.
How many clear scoring chances have there been in those 3 games? How many amazing saves has lloris made ? How many average saves has lloris had to make in those 3 games?
mid you’ve been watching closely you can see we are much more solid than last season.
That said if we are finished in the transfer mkt I don’t see the squad being much better than last season and even 6th place will be a big ask

Here you go mate....................

The shots are almost all from outside of the box, they are garbage. That's because we are defending, this is what defending is. Any other chance has been blocked, that's what defending is, the people who have been doing this have been Sanchez & Dier.

We all know about the 1vs1 that Traore had, it's well documented, just look at the number of 1v1's that Ederson has to deal with almost every week, yet City has one of the best defensive records in the league. The oppo is going to have shots it's what happens in a game of football, if they are from outside the box, or other low % positions then they are unlikely to go in. The fact that Lloris has ONLY had to make SIX saves across 3 PL games demonstrates this, shows that we are frustrating the oppo.

If this was us shooting we'll all be up in arms at how shit we've been unable to get behind the oppo or break them down having such a lack of threat!

To be fair, and for context, we've still only got the 12th best XGA in the PL (4.21) Although exactly half of that (2.11) came in the city game.

We are defending a bit better as a team I think, being more aggressive, with more of that aggression coming from midfield, and the CM3 format is protecting the CB's better IMO.

Thus far, the best I can say about Nuno, is that he appears to have at least identified some of the inherent problems we have structurally and without the ball, and appears to have tried to address them both in application and structurally - which was the very least I expected Mourinho to do and in 18 months he completely failed to. I emphasise appears because it's only been three games and our XGA is still not great...

This is pure garbage.

Other teams with first choice strikers sign guys all the time.

Do you think Leicester is sitting Vardy out for Patson Daka? He had no problem signing there with Vardy and Iheancho ahead of him.

Kane is also coming off two seasons where injuries held him out, has played way too much over the number of seasons, coming back from a long Euros and is likely taking every precaution if he feels anything based on wanting to leave.

Any striker that we would have brought would have a good shot at already starting 2 PL games and the 2 ECL games as well.

The usual waiting until the end too announce our one and only signing too try and appease the supporters after a bang average window. I ask this question, who have we actually signed that will actually improve our starting 11?

Gollini as far as I’m concerned is going to be 2nd choice to Hugo all season with the view of being the main guy when he goes. Sarr the youngster has gone back on loan which means the club have no plans with him until next season. Romero whilst an exciting signing, is only really a replacement for Toby. I still think Sanchez and Dier are a pair of clowns and will get found out. We haven’t really addressed this. Right back if this Emerson turns out too be decent could be an obvious upgrade on Aurier and Doherty, but that’s not exactly hard. Bryan Gil, whilst exciting is again one for the future. There’s no real intent too play him in the starting 11 at the moment.

So I ask again, what have we done that will instantly improve us? We have no senior back up striker, so if the inevitable Harry Kane 2 month ankle injury occurs, we are once again heavily reliant on Sonny. Hoping and praying he doesn’t pick up an injury too, otherwise the season is well and truly down the toilet.

We haven’t replaced either Bale or Vinicius. Instead, we are supposed to accept a 17 year old talent but a complete rookie in Scarlett. If Harry and Son gets injured, are we throwing a 17 year old in the spotlight ? Sorry, but it’s amateur stuff once again from the most unambitious chairman and owners on the planet. We never learn and it’s a wonder why we never win anything.

Oh and if your problem is that Wigan was used as an example that the odd domestic cup isnt a good measurement of club progress, consider Woolwich won the FA cup with Arteta. Maybe we should keep our fingers crossed that the Kroenkes buy us and that we get their recruitment team in and Arteta as head coach? Because they are a fucking success story recently arent they?

5 more years of transition, see what baffles me about this is we nearly reached the holy grail years back and failed to reinvest and push onwards, this is the result.
And the season we failed to re-invest was before 18/19 season. We made a CL final at the end of it.
In the 18/19 season Liverpool accrued 97/114 points in the league. Absolutely phenomenal... Yet didn't win the league,

The following summer/winter we spent well over 100m on Tanguy, GLC, Sess, Clarke and Bergwijn.

To say the issues have been not spending and that's why we are where we are is naive, how we've spent our money has been the main issue IMV.

But we are now under the transfer guidance of Paratici and he was not going to fix every squad spot in one window. But his approach has been correct.

Much rather have Paratici target quality players and have 1 say yes to us (Romero) and more say no (Martinez, Moriba, Kounde, Torres) than do what Woolwich do and target average players - having all them say yes - pay over the odds, and offer large wages. Then have no chance moving them on when they aren't good enough.

They've spent 150m and barely improved their squad.
We have spent far less and have improved our squad.

Thank you, another great example of a club that everyone agrees is run terribly but is comparable or even ahead of us in recent “success.”

Now you are getting it. Using clubs that we all agree are shit or run terribly shows how bad things are under ENIC.
