"The Nordic Football Association (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland & Faroe Islands) have made a joint statement that they will consider leaving FIFA if a World Cup every two years is agreed.

Hope many others follow suit very soon!"

A World Cup every 2 years would be horrible, definitely make it less special. No way the respective continental confederations will want to give up their tournaments either. I just can't see how it would ever be considered as feasible. Needs knocking on the head straight away IMO.

Not to mention the players will just be even more flogged by having less summer breaks. Meaning:

a) they'll clock up more injuries
b) the quality of the league play will suffer due to both this and additional pre-season disruption.

One could say "allow bigger" squads but that'll just favour the richest of teams cos they can better fund quality in depth..... Resulting in an even bigger divide.
 
Basically FIFA want their football to be the big global football thing; the big clubs want their super league football to be the big global football thing. Players and fans probably want neither. It’s all a load of power play bollocks.

The Nordic countries get SOOOOOO many things right.

90% of fifa revenue is via WC (I made up the number but its roughly that), its that simple for their call for more of them and a larger club WC.

Fifa are also in need of money. The continental feds have their champions leagues and their continental competitions (Euros, Copa America etc) that makes them money. Fifa has the world cup every 4 years and UEFA in particular are much more of a financial powerhouse in football now than them.

So Fifa's big idea to even the gap is to run more world cups. Infantino even said yesterday that either teams would not be allowed to compete in back to back world cups (to "keep the mysticism of the 4 year cycle". Bet that will be fun for the winners). Or they'd run a World Cup A and a World Cup B.

Infantino is just coming off as having no real plan other than "need more money. give please".

Pathetic.... Moronic shortsightedness that's completely detatched from the concept of a quality product.
 
The Nordic countries leaving Fifa would not block them from still being part of Uefa for those wondering. Gibraltar for example was only a member of Uefa but not acknowledged by Fifa until recently. So leaving Fifa would block those countries from the world cup but not the Euros.
