Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Same old argument over and over just going in circles. What a useless joke of a thread. Too bad no one can ever have a conversation in this thread as it will be lost in the posts of the same old trolls reposting the same points again and again.

And the one idiot troll even has a post bragging about his trolling ability. Wish we had some sort of moderation on this board.

Boards gone to shit.
Got sooooo many on ignore because of this its a real black mark on the forum. I thought about moving on but a poster here told me the same weridos/obsessives (when supposedly having a break ) are there stinking up other sites with the same Kane/N'dombele OCD.

Hope that's not aimed at me, as if so, that poster is feeding you BS. Only other site I occasionally post on is the onevalefan forum, and I certainly don't talk about either there!

Correct, but my point is we had a great core group of players and Poch at the helm

Just because you're not at RM or Barcelona doesn't mean that a player is not in a very good place

But I do agree, what happened after was a colossal failure by ENIC/Levy

Still doesn't justify Kane's diva antics last season/summer

I wish all our top players went full Danny Rose tbh

Kane's level is far higher than the level the club currently are at.

So, first sign of trouble it's ok to down tools and fuck off? (Allegedly he was agitating for a move as early as during the fall-out form the CL final.... Just 1 year into his new deal!)

....Wilf Zaha's situation has been equivalent; has he ever gone on strike?

Kane has done a lot for this club, for a long time. He could have left with blessings years ago.
He signed that contract in good faith cos he had belief in the project.

The club did fuck all whilst the iron was hot. It's unfair to keep Kane.

Technically we can keep him to his contract.
Doesn't mean that it's right.

Just like Poch, they both signed new bumper new deals despite seeing us not spend in the summer of 2018 (and since then we had a big spend up in 19/20 and have brought in another dozen players since; which doesn't equate to doing "fuck all").... It wasn't some divine gesture on their parts.

Both did what they felt was right for them at the time. If either were the martyrs they're sometimes painted to be, they could both have used their contract renewal situ's as a catalyst to publicly leverage the owners on behalf of the fans desire for glory and bigger spending (see Rooney at Utd 2012/2103)..... They didn't.

Long term deals and big pay-rises were more important to them.

To quote you... "That's the game" and in that respect I concur, but you can't have it both ways and paint them as martyrs when it suits.

Refusing to turn up for training is part of the game.

No... It's breach of contract actually.

I believe Poch and Kane signed big deals for 2 reasons.

1) to retrospectively reward themselves for the great work they had done on a low wage
2) because they believed Levy would indeed start to spend. Kane has always said he wants to stay so long as the club stay ambitious. How do you know Levy didn't say "sure mate" then go back on his word? Multiple ex managers have issues with Levy failing them so that seems the most plausible situation Imo

Self interest. but ok.... That's the side of "the game" I've already concurred to.....

2) because they believed Levy would indeed start to spend.

As I've already illustrated; the squad rebuild started the summer following their new deals.... Trf records were broken and we've had 16/17 players brought in since.

If it weren't for covid hitting in our first full season in the stadium, even more would have been spent.

See above.

Not if you're gonna ignore what we do know as fact (again, see above).

Can't be fucked to have the done to death "do we spend enough" debate, but my point here is a simple one: Kane & Poch are NOT martyrs and mere "maybe's" surrounding "gentleman's agreements" and fan theories that are contradicted by fact aren't sufficient 'evidence' to the contrary.

Some fair points.

Relative to his peers in football I don't think he was that well compensated at all. Plenty of players in the mid to upper 200ks, and some in the 300ks. Even years ago.

I do feel the club were reluctant to do business with City. I can't be 100% sure so maybe you're right.

But keeping Kane makes no sense. We're quite blatantly rebuilding for the future and have written off the next few seasons. I believe Levy wanted to create a distraction x us vs city siege mentality and keep a star for the sake of ticket price justification. By the time we've assembled a good squad Kane will be old af so what's the point?

Not well compensated compared to some, but he's still on a significant amount of money, hence I struggle to feel sorry for him for the way he's been treated. It was his own moronic decision to hire his brother as an agent rather than someone suitable, and that led to him signing a silly contract.

I was pro selling Kane and I still am. But the club can't just roll over and sell him at all costs. I hope we would accept if City put in a fair offer, and would be extremely annoyed if we were straight up refusing to do business. The fact is if we sold him for 75m we'd barely even get a half decent CF with that money in the current market, so what's the point?

Levy's a prick, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he scuppered any chance of a fair deal for both parties with his ego, but the people who run City are also pricks and probably encouraged Kane to act like one so they could try to get him on the cheap. Screw that.

It is very messy indeed. Kane the idiot. His brother a tacky prat. Levy the tight arse with no real plan. Man City trying to opportunistically low ball. There's blame to be spread.

My thing is that Kane's errors (signing contract extensions, not the golf interview) were all made in good faith whereas Levy's weren't. He always knew he wouldn't invest.

It's a mess, and it sucks. I think even some of the biggest Kane fans would've reluctantly accepted a clean break with the club and we get the money to at least attempt a rebuild process, even if recent signings show we're likely to piss it up the wall.

If he can get in to some real form this season and City struggle CF wise, maybe there's still a chance of a half decent outcome.

Look at Son and Kane at 2:10 here. And to think some here tried to say that he and some other of our players didn't like Harry anymore not too long ago. Absolute horse shit.

Secondly, how the fuck isn't Son on our set-pieces?! Step aside, Harry.

We were a top club at the time and he was in a very good place. We were among the elite clubs. He wasn't doing us any favors.
Amazing isn’t it when people talk about favours. If Harry was doing us a favour in 2016, he’d have put away the simple one on on against Leicester at WHL at 0-0 and we’d have won the league.

But yeah, he deserves a trophy.
Turn up in big games and he might had have 4

Geezers being paid a million a month and people are going to wank off because he turned up against Newcastle.

Oh thank you for doing your job after three months. That’s a nice 3M you’ve earned this season for one good game.

Please, can you do us another favour tomorrow? For your 9M pounds a season.

He's scored 20-30 plus goals every season for nigh on 10 years. I'd say he's more than done the job he's paid for. I don't think anyone will lose any sleep just because sammy boy isn't content.

Are you content?
If you are, then you’re priorities are all wrong

You’re content that Kane scores against shit, but consistently fluffs his lines at the biggest moments. Good for you, I’d rather he turned up in ONE of our three cup finals than destroy Brighton
