Sorry I should not have used the "Doubled" because as you say no one knows what/if Levy and Kane had an agreement
Kane has been a super player for us, (not a great player) and now when he's not playing well many folks on here are slagging him off
all i was doing we trying to put a reason why he may be playing poorly
unlike most of us Kane is a multi millionaire so he doesn't have to swallow when the boss cheese's him off
Well,
financially he doesn't have to swallow it, but if he cares about his
career then he might have to...
As I said, we will probably never know what was agreed (indeed I've yet to hear from Kane's camp even what they
claim was agreed, which is a bit suspicious), but surely we all agree it's almost impossible that Levy would have promised Kane could leave on the cheap, so that being the case, surely if anything Kane should be pissed off with City for not putting in a sensible offer.
But yes of course we're all interested in why exactly he's playing so badly, and it may be more subtle than the black and white answers that people often offer on here. For example:
- He may have consciously downed tools due to being pissed off with Levy - possible but seems too simplistic and unlikely for me.
- He may be disappointed (with or without blaming anyone) and so sub-consciously not have his mind in the right place, not be training so well etc. For me this seems most likely.
- It could of course be at least in part down to other factors. He has a young family, I know he's not the only footballer in that situation, but all kids are different, who knows how much impact that has on his form (not just now, but over the last few years, perhaps this was part of the reason for his bad patches), particularly when he's already in a bad place mentally because of the failed transfer.
For me the middle one seems most likely, and if so then god knows what he or anyone else can do about that. The easy / obvious answer is for him to pick himself up, be determined to get back to his best, and get his transfer next summer that way - but whilst that's easy enough to say, it's not so easy to do, mindset is a funny thing, and demotivation (justified or not) can be very difficult to reverse.
EDIT: Might be wishing thinking, but I wonder if Levy offered him tomorrow a written contract saying that if his combined goals & assists is over 40 at the end of the season (or whatever) then he can leave for £100m, and if Kane absolutely smashes it then someone might well pay it (presumably City or United), I wonder if that would motivate him to play better, put his mind in a better place, give him something to work towards, and basically be a win-win for everyone...
