Re: player's diets.

It's shocking how many clubs don't take nutrition seriously and leave players to their own devices. The same goes with a lot of physical training.

For example some guys decide to bulk up (Bale, Ronaldo etc) others shy away with it. Some players hire their own nutritionists, I know Iwobi at Everton does this for example.

More concerning- many players do whatever silly diet they like. For instance Caulker was on a low carb diet whilst he played for us. Outrageous for an athlete in this sport.

In the US people competing in sport are generally looked at and treated like athletes. There's more of a connection between the sports and athletics too.
Over here there's this huge gap. It's acceptable to be a lard with tekkers.
I do love that the gist of the Athletic article from this morning was pretty much 1) training is intense; 2) he asks 100% from his players, and; 3) Conte is meticulous in optimizing the squad, including diet, tactics, and building a team spirit.

Basically, a top level manager. Nothing in there is particularly noteworthy outside of his temper.

Still can't believe we got him.

Lean and mean. Love the noises. Chicken not soo much, Turkey if you have to is generally easier, either way, it best be Biodynamic or legit free range Organic, better yet +Omega3 rich seed reared.

Full of nitrates a performance athlete should be well clear of (and anyone of any faith, or interest in truly being well).

Or, that early season meat fest, where Romero, Lo Celso, Reguilon, Lloris (others?) had enough meat to feed a small country (can't find pic, then they looked collectively starved of oxygen the next fortnight!!! Not enough focus by the club, until now I hope.

That was given to him at christmas. Most top athletes have days off from strict diets. Even Ronaldo has cheat days, they aren't machines and require some days where they aren't living totally restricted diets.

These guys burn huge amounts of calories, the odd bit of unhealthy food in their diet won't have that much of an impact.

That picture was post match after beating Man City last November. Mourinho then gave him another one of those at Christmas thinking he’d be alone, when he broke lockdown rules

Ah fair. I only remember the Christmas debacle.

Overall it shouldn't be an issue anyhow, unless Reguilon went home and scoffed the whole thing. As long as most of the time they're eating healthily, some treats/not so healthy stuff is normal. The amount of calories these guys burn during daily training will be insane.

You can’t help but love this guy. He’s so professional, everything he’s said and done since arriving has been classy and dignified. It would be a travesty if Levy doesn’t grab the bull by the horns and back him with the ammunition to get us firing again. We can’t let this slip through the fingers, surely? COYS

You're one of them, noted.

It was actually after he shut out (can't recall who), as a reward, mid-season. Porkly gift from a porkly person.

Your manager, repeatedly giving you excessively huge joints of meat, known for high nitrate toxicity.

It's like you defending Lewis Hamilton's team razzing his car between races on forecourt oil and petrol, to let it loose.

As noted, you have no clue about a mentality set vital for elite success, IMO, in nutritional terms.

Nitrates in this sense, in the body, contribute to methemoglobin.

This may become suppressive to the bodies ability to readily form Hemoglobin.

This is NOT GOOD!!!

I've recently gone meat and dairy free with less bread (due to long covid symptoms which seem to be getting worse), feeling much better after just a week. more energy and no heaviness, blood rushes or aches after a meal, Its called the GBOMBS diet (greens, beans, onions. etc, mushrooms, berries, seeds etc. highly recommended (so far).

My philosophy has always a bit of everything, but now its obvious that you've got to cut out or drastically reduce certain foods, especially if you're a pro athlete.
