Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

2nd goal on Thursday was more structured and forward thrusting than any goal we've scored in quite some time, and that was after two training seasons "led" by Mason with Conte "observing"

Give him until Christmas to get the squad fit and better versed in his tactical setup and the second half of the year could be quite exciting.
Weird, Jose’s first game 3-0 up finished 3-2

Conte can make our attack more fluid, striker aside, but he’ll struggle hugely if he doesn’t drop Dier and start using Tanganga as either a CB or DM.
Also need a LB that can defend

Anyone who has followed Conte career’s should know that he’s both going to mine the depths of the squad, to the point we might have an odd player have a resurgence, and be demanding in the the transfer window.

He won the English League with Victor Moses playing wingback and the Italian League with Ashley Young. He knows exactly what role he wants players today and crafts them to it. I would actually be surprised if there isn’t one player we all hate who becomes a crucial Conte player. Davies becoming a high performing LCB would be peak Conte.

At the same time, he’ll be massively demanding in the transfer market and won’t settle for second best.

All that to say, he coaches every player on the team hard and tries to get the best out of them but also doesn’t hesitate in knowing who is and isn’t up to snuff and what he needs to succeed. Pretty much exactly what you want in a manager.

If he keeps Winks instead of investing in the squad, it’s not for me.

I’m not interested in what he can do with Winks. If Conte feels they’ve shown enough by January not to sell or pursue anyone I’ll be gutted.

Seems like the day I’ve seen the light, others have decided this squad can be the one
Im sure there a a few players who will improve to a good level under Conte. But they wont go from a 0 to 100. The ones who are starting from 0 just need to be dumped.

Still don’t see why Mason is involved in this
It does lower the tone.

Baldy just can't help himself - inserting himself, either directly, or by proxy.

Just can't cleanly do what's required... always has to be something.

Pain in the fucking arse.

"Hold on a minute... if I bake Mason - being wriggled into AC's team - into the deal, then, if it goes tits-up, I just stick him in the hot seat for cheap-cheap... the fans are endeared to him already and won't mind they've gone from having a Rolls Royce to 'skirt-skirting' in a Hillman Imp."

Levy has planted his mole in the dressing room. He’ll get his daily reports now

But you’re skirting around the issue

If he’s handed a list in, he has no intention of giving certain players a chance and that’s how it should be.

He can keep the dressing happy and then sell them in January, but you’re views aren’t reliant on the window opening.

You believe everyone deserves a new chance. Not a new chance until January, but a chance to be a part of this teams future.

I’m not ok with Davies or Dier putting in a shift and starting games next season.
You might be, I’m not, and if Conte is going to do that, we could have just kept Nuno.
Lol no I don't believe everyone deserves a new chance. I believe that Conte has told the players that there are no favourites and that all are equal. He can't say that and then totally ignore Winks et al.

It would make his actions incompatible with his words.

Thus he won't be freezing Winks out just now, no matter how much that you think that he ought to.

I’ve come to the conclusion (purely conjecture) that Nuno was the cheapest hire available whilst Paratici continued to chase Conte.

Everything Paratici has been doing was to get Conte in. We didn’t entertain any of Nuno’s targets. He was a patsy to sit in the dugout whilst we went after our target.
Probably true but not great business sense in that we have to pay off Nuno and not good football sense in that Conte has to start after ten games with no pre season

Whatever way you look at it Levy fucked up

He did.

I suspect the club would have been happy to keep Mason there until the point that Conte became available. I don’t think they had the stomach for that me fan reaction though.

Dont think Nuno was paid anything, Levy probably had a clause in there somewhere for automatic termination if a certain string of bad results preceded a situation. No manager is going to get a full season of free reign and possibly send the club hurtling towards relegation

Re: player's diets.

It's shocking how many clubs don't take nutrition seriously and leave players to their own devices. The same goes with a lot of physical training.

For example some guys decide to bulk up (Bale, Ronaldo etc) others shy away with it. Some players hire their own nutritionists, I know Iwobi at Everton does this for example.

More concerning- many players do whatever silly diet they like. For instance Caulker was on a low carb diet whilst he played for us. Outrageous for an athlete in this sport.

In the US people competing in sport are generally looked at and treated like athletes. There's more of a connection between the sports and athletics too.
Over here there's this huge gap. It's acceptable to be a lard with tekkers.
