Like Brozovic, this link is about 3/4 years too late unfortunately. Was a really good 8/CM3 but his career has taken some bad injury hits.

brozovic brings experience too

very solid deep lying playmaker we need one badly

think kessie is going to psg now anyway

I keep reading "deep lying playmaker" but I really don't think he's that. He's just a 6 who's actually technically good too. That's a good thing, but not exactly "playmaker" and he's never been the most dynamic and you have to question the timing of coming to the PL at his age/stage.

This is one of the things I was concerned about when we brought in Paratici and now Conte. I know Paratici has made some decent signings in his career, but his last few seasons at Juve some of his business wasn't smart and contributed to their decline and lumbered them with big wage burden. Conte is a obviously a good coach and good tactician, but can be very demanding ninth transfer market and doesn't always care about "inherent value". Great for now, but not so great when you need to rebuild a team with some medium/long term aims.

The idea of having people like Brozovic and Tolisso would have had me pretty happy a few years ago, and on pure ability basis, even now is fine, but on a "rebuild the team" basis doesn't seem like such a great idea, signing two players who will be past their peak before a 4 year contract is over and one of them with horrendous injury record (he's missed 87 games in 5 years for a whole bunch of different injuries)

Kinda sums up the best managers, spend money buying the "now" players and bail when the obvious decline happens or money runs out.

If Conte sent Parawanki to Ajax to bring in the likes of Schuurs, Gravenberch and Anthony and developed them into utter top class I would get more excited by Conte, Parawanki, the now and the future.

Conte took over Chelsea team that fell out with Jose, wasted plenty of money but eventually got them back to the way Jose had them. Here he needs to develop players, replace players past their best and it'll be seen if Levy actually goes through with the big spending needed for a short term run at the trophies.

I'm still a bit lost with the Conte appointment, because nothing screams Levy will change to suit Conte's demands 100%

I think the playmaker part comes more from how that role was used by him at Juve and Chelsea with Pirlo and Fabergas and while Brozovic is not quite the playmaker that those are or what we think of a 10 like Eriksen what he does do well compared to the players we have now is progress the ball from the backline to the attacking players, whether MF or forwards. He is not likely making the key pass that leads to a goal or chance but what he can do is control the ball and break the press so that the players making those passes can do so much easier.

He is far from perfect and I would much rather have a Brozovic type guy from 4-5 years ago than Brozovic now, but I do think he could come in and if we get a young guy- could even be Skipp- to develop into that role he can hold down the fort for a short period of time and still be a guy that is "easy" to pass on the depth chart when that other player is ready.

My biggest concern is that we have seen that PEH cannot come close to handling that role, Ndombele and GLC are much more suited to play further up and Skipp needs more development-skillwise, physically and experience- before he is ready.

Tolliso at peak health would be great for us especially in a Conte system but I don't see that ever happening and we have probably had our fill of guys who are great but x.

I would be very against Pickford replacing Lloris.
He’s far from reliable, well capable of producing clangers and his wrists have a tendency to turn to wheetabix every so often.
And to add to all that, he comes across as an all merciful helmet of a man. A right prick.

Paratici should be doing absolutely everything to hijack Inters move for Onana. Failing that, Meslier at Leeds is someone we should be looking at too that hasn’t been mentioned.

Sule and Gintner 100%, possibly Zakaria Extend Hugo a year then get Oblak we'd be good for next five years
Oblak. Drool....
