Roma manager is perhaps the last of the personality coaches, his capacity to inspire by charismatic authority now fading fast
Roma's José Mourinho

After his Roma side had lost 1-0 at Bologna, José Mourinho pursued the referee Luca Pairetto down the tunnel, enraged at the bookings that meant Tammy Abraham and Rick Karsdorp would be suspended for last weekend’s game against Internazionale. “I’ll have to invent the lineup on Saturday,” he later told the media. “Luckily, I replaced Gianluca Mancini. Otherwise, he may have been booked too.”

With his captain Lorenzo Pellegrini out with a muscular problem and Stephan El Shaarawy suffering a calf problem, Mourinho had to field a weakened lineup against Inter – and nobody could be in any doubt that that was not Mourinho’s fault. Although it was his decision to leave last season’s top scorer, Borja Mayoral, on the bench.

Roma were 3-0 down by half-time, the first time that has ever happened to Mourinho. That was the final score, only his second home defeat in Serie A, prompting a classic Mourinho press conference. First he refused to take questions, telling journalists: “Your job is a lot easier than ours which is why we earn a lot more than you.”
Then he delivered a brief but characteristic monologue, making clear that a) the task was essentially impossible – “Inter are objectively better than us. This became an extremely difficult match tonight because of absentees”; and b) they had nearly won anyway and would have done if only the players had done their jobs better – “We had three big chances, two of which came at 0-0.” It was not, to repeat, his fault.

I can count to 7 ...... which is where we finished last year.
3 points off 4th, with a better goal difference than everyone from 4th down.
That was with Mourinho, who seemed to give up tactics after October and just hope 7 men defending could give Kane or Son the ball and they'd score.....and Rynaldo Masoninho winging it with his mates for 5 games.

We now have Conte, are 3 points off 4th with 2 games in hand and have what looks like an actual game plan.

Top 6 is s given for me.

What’s not explained is that since this is a 4 game rolling average, even the early Conte numbers (which are lower) are low due to half the data being while nuno was coaching.
It also doesn’t consider who you’re playing, and for once we were quite savvy/lucky and Conte’s had a decent set of games to ease him in. Clearly he’s having a good impact, but big tests coming up in the next week…

It doesn't say average?
I take that as a game by game plot graph of XG for and against. It has each game week and the graph goes from one to another.
TBH, I don't actually understand why they mention the 4 game part, as the graph clearly shows each match.

More interesting is that the XG against isn't actually much/any lower. It the XG for that shoots up.

I assume it’s a 4 game rolling average as it says. It’s also not showing each match… it’s showing the 4 game rolling average at that specific week. They do this to avoid huge peaks and valleys that would occur due to a 1 game sample.
