I love the guy, but the whole "when he plays and is motivated" are just things you can't rely on with Tanguy. Five managers have not relied on him now, it's just not going to happen.

If you watch Traore in one on one situations, he's very creative and able to beat his man with regularity. He's not creative in an Eriksen sense, but he's able to creatively find space with the ball. It's what he does after that gets him into trouble. With Conte though, you just ask him to play the way Emerson played yesterday and deliver crosses into the box. His crossing is actually not bad, it's his finishing and decision making. Conte can just tell him to simplify his game, get the ball in space, beat his man, get the ball in the box. I think he can do that role very well - it's at least worth a 20 million punt.
Totally agree about Tanguy, even though he has the ability I think it’s clear he’s on his way out.

I get what the essential appeal is with Traore but his greatest ability is something that Son, Lucas, Gil and Bergwijn all essentially have With some having far more to their game than him. If all we need is someone who can be given free reign to run at defenses and put in half-way decent balls, we already have that.

I‘d personally much rather have an additional 20 million towards a key role we need filled. It alone won’t pay for it, but paying money for Traore when it could be invested elsewhere just doesn’t make much sense to me. He’s played in 17 games this year and has 0 goals, 0 assists, 4 shots on goal, 34 crosses, and only 3 chances created.

Kalvin Phillips would be immense in that deep lying playmaker role.
Kalvin Philips would be a brilliant signing for us, but there’s no way we could afford what would be a ridiculous asking price.

He actually reeks of a HG player who is destined to be bought up by Chelsea to sit on their bench for the best years of his career, just so they prevent him playing for a rival. Like they’ve done with Barkley, Chilwell etc.

Their player hoarding is criminal. But the fact so many players haven't figured it out, go there, and miss their prime years is even worse.

I get what you're saying about his ability to run into space and dribble, but his ability to beat men one on one is also special, and not something any of those players you mentioned have, except for maybe Lucas.

"Try" being the absolute operative word here......

Match thread: "Our RWB lacks end product....."

Answer: "Let's get Traore then"

:pochcry:
I get your point... BUT

With Emerson, they let him have space and marked everyone else. Watch any Wolves match, Adama gets double marked and fouled constantly.
There is no way they would give space like they did to Emerson to Adama, he would dribble into the box and do a short pass to striker (mayhem for opponents). But double marking Adama would open up space for Kane/ Son/ Lucas.

But a more attacking RWB vs most teams such as Adama is crucial to our success over the season

Nggggghhhhhhh......

1. Traore is not a WB by trade.
2. What does "more attacking" even mean in this context....?

Sure he can beat a man, but then what? No end product and no defensive abilities.

If all people want to is to play a winger at WB when facing low-block teams then 'fine' - get a better winger than Traore and do that - but don't be suprised when we concede a few costly goals along the way when the oppo get their inevitable break or two against the general flow of play and a frustrating game turns into ZERO points gained.

"Emerson or Another WB" doesn't have to equal "Emerson or Traore"......

Crazy idea: Go scout an actual attacking RWB instead.

To those who think Declan Rice is a feasible possibility ....well, The Sun are saying WH's asking price would be around £100m. I don't see why he shouldn't cost around what Grealish cost.
Yes, I know it's The Sun - but when it comes to football they are often not that much off the mark (but at times they totally are).

It's inevitable and good for them.....

He won't be sold in Jan though and he won't leave for anyone short of a title-contender either.

I understand your point, but if we did go for Traore I think it would be because Conte saw something in him that he thought would suit him with a bit of coaching up.

He’s unexpectedly made wingbacks out of players with a lot less talent than Traore. So I’d be willing to give Conte the benefit of the doubt on Traore, much more so than with Nuno in the summer for example.
