We need both.
If all we get is a creator/goal scorer from midfield they will struggle to get the ball if they are playing along guys like Winks, PEH, Alli who can't keep the ball.
But getting someone to dominate the ball with nobody to pass it to causes problems as well.
Obviously getting one of those is better than nothing but we really need both players at least 2 new starters, if not 3, in the midfield.
So you are ok that we make no signings until 31st Jan to save a few million, even if it means we are out of all cups and the CL race?

Looking at the Basque and Spanish press it doesn't look like Woolwich are getting anywhere remotely near to signing Isak, let alone close. It hasn't been mentioned once here, not even in the often source-less rolling rumour mills that had us signing Griezmann.

Woolwich after Isak? Interesting. Sociedad have been poor all year scoring goals, only 21 in 19 games and Isak has 4 all season. Only barely holding onto mid table status because of an excellent defense. Wonder what’s going on there.
I don’t know what Arteta’s deal with Aubameyang is, but he’s been a great goal scorer for them. They’ll have trouble upgrading. Isak could be good in the future, but I don’t see him as natural PL fit, so slight of frame.
He’s had one good season and been good in FIFA, perfect Woolwich overpay signing. Are they paying the 100m clause?

If we did that and then added a big striker (Vlahovic) and at least one top CB in the summer that would be pretty good.
I have concerns about Maddison's attitude and Lamptey's injuries but that MF is so much better than what we have and Lamptey adds to the attack as well which Emerson doesn't.
Would be concerned about an injury to Son or Kane but those 3 should give us a good shot at getting top 4.
There are alternatives in Europe to Maddison. He's annoying, blows hot and cold and does pick up niggles as you mentioned. But at this best he would take us up a level for sure.
