Scarlett and Gil aren’t remotely comparable.

That said, it is relying on projection. But it’s happening, Conte is throwing him in there ahead of the same old disappointments and he has qualities that the rest of the squad sorely lack.
If Gil can learn to play RW, and develops fairly quickly, we could have solved our RW issue already. Allows us to focus on a RWB and two talented CMs.

I feel like i've been watching a different Traore to everyone else on here.

Would hope i'm proven wrong but don't see a player that will take us to the next level

Can't see how he would be much help breaking down to a solid defensive block
That's my only worry with him. He's an exciting player, but he needs space in order to be functional. If he were playing v Watford he'd be useless...

Personally I don't think it's those kind of games where we'd play him so much. For me it's more against the top sides where we have less pressure and are constantly on the edge of our area - his ability to get us up the pitch would be a godsend in those situations. And let's face it, it's not only the top sides who have done that to us in the last 12 months, there have been many games where we've been under the cosh for lengthy periods (including Wolves, somewhat ironically).

Like others, I'm not convinced because of a). his stats, and b). the eye test that confirms he often doesn't really know what he's going to do and doesn't have the ability to do it. However he definitely would offer something that we don't really have from anyone other than to some extent Moura.

There are similarities and differences between them of course - Moura often looks as though he doesn't know what he's doing, runs headfirst into trouble etc, yet I have absolutely no doubt that he unsettles defenders, and either directly or indirectly provides us with goal-scoring opportunities, so is often a huge (albeit misunderstood by many fans) asset. Traore could well be similar in that respect. Where he will differ of course is in his physical power - I know as Spurs fans we'd all be much more impressed if he had a golden touch or fantastic vision, but pure power can also be a great asset, and watching him take the ball from the edge of our area when we're under pressure, smash past several opponents and win us a 'catch a breath' free kick in the oppositions final third will be greatly appreciated in tougher games. He wouldn't play every game - only 3 or 4 players in most sides do these days - he would be used where Conte thought him useful.

Just my thoughts - I'm well aware there are plenty on here with very different opinions... which of course they are absolutely entitled to. The proof will be in the pudding I guess! (If we sign him of course). :)

It's becoming obscene. I'm convinced there must be an underlying reason for it.
A troubled upbringing in a single parent family perhaps....

Maybe Daniel Levy represents some kind of substitute father figure to them? :sonhmm:

It's an interesting possibility.

I think there are a couple of issues at play.

One is it is odd that there are a few posters who don't post much but now jump on to defend Levy, maybe just coincidence but funny that after the debacle against Chelsea and with fans getting more angry these posters all of a sudden pop up here and twitter with their defenses of the club.

For the long time posters that continue to make excuses I think that there is a real feeling that you can't criticize the club no matter how valid and a fear that admitting that the club isn't perfect somehow will mean you aren't a "true" fan.

The fact that people are trotting out shit like "its early", "other clubs haven't made moves", "January is tough" while clearly ignoring the past 21 years shows that there is not thought put into the mindless defense of ENIC at all.

We always offer 60m for 80m players
40m for 50m players
and 30m for 40m players

Its a way for Levy to say we tried to buy players without risking actually having to spend anything. By making big offers that you know are not going to be accepted you fool the apologists into thinking you want to spend but it is just too damn hard sometimes.

Then these same apologists come up with nonsense like "Levy can't make the other clubs sell to us." as an excuse why we didn't get the player.

Dear god. 7 goals and 14 assists in 158 games. Thats behind what Eriksen used to do in a season. I particulaly like the 139 shots with only 38 on target.
them stats are better than what i thought. hes fucking pony whenever ive seen him play.
adorable aww GIF

But Wolves dont have the issue of facing many, if any, teams that shove every man behind the ball. We do, so it negates the only positive of Traore when there is no space to run into.
But as we saw in our game vs Watford, we cant break such teams down with the likes of Son, Kane, Lucas etc.

I think to open up teams like watford theres a few options. Either have all front 6 players with great passing skills, excellent first touches and great movement. We have 0 players that can do all those things.

Next option is have a couple of Gareth Bale type players who will amazing shots from long ranges, sadly kane and Son dont seem to be able to do that anymore

Finally its the brute force approach of taking on these players like lucas does and while it kind of works for us , Lucas is a tiny dude and falls over easily while traore has to be taken down with blatant fouls . I think traore has his uses.
