Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Let's wait until Jan 30th and then offer a other 50 quid.

I know, mate, I don't think he will ever be the same player as he was. He had some hamstring issues, right? Hasn't been the same since.
Maybe a change of scenery will do him good as a player but even then I can't see a Lingardesque renaissance from him

Hamstring and pretty bad thigh injury. He's covered in Kenisio tape these days suggesting he's still not comfortable or limber.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are competing with Leeds United and Newcastle United for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell, according to The Sun.

The British tabloid has claimed that Tottenham, Newcastle, Leeds, AS Roma and Leicester City all are interested in signing Cantwell from Noreich in the January transfer window.

The Canaries are willing to sell the 23-year-old now, but they want £15 million in transfer fees.

WOULD TODD CANTWELL MAKE TOTTENHAM BETTER?
In our view, Cantwell would be a good signing for Tottenham, especially for £15 million.

The 23-year-old knows the Premier League and has done relatively well for the Canaries in the division.

Moreover, Cantwell is quite young, so there is room for improvement and development in his game.

The former England Under-21 international has made five starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Canaries so far this season.

Cantwell – described as “an exceptional, exceptional player” by former Norwich striker Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live in June 2020 – has scored six goals in 45 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Tottenham could do with more dynamism in their midfield, and, in our view, Cantwell would not be a bad option to have for head coach Antonio Conte.

In other news, 'Bit of a nark': Jamie Carragher has just tweeted about £8m Liverpool playe

Barcelona will target Wolves winger Adama Traore, 25, if French forward Ousmane Dembele, 24, decides against renewing his contract with the La Liga side, providing competition for Tottenham in their attempts to sign the Spaniard. (Diario Sport - in Spanish)

Gonna be difficult to bag quality players unless we go in with a bid to blow anyone away and we can't or won't do that. I have no idea who Conte really wants so just have to wait and see and not be looking at every transfer and saying we should have signed so and so .
We do have interesting players to trade in exchange (loans or perm). That must be attractive to most clubs as deals are so hard to do in Jan, could make them more open to a sale

Wasn’t he part of the promising crop of Norwich players two years back? Aarons, Buendia, and Cantwell?

Yeah they got relegated. Exciting in the championship

He looked decent in the prem initially but he was barely used by this season. Must be a reason. It could be they are prioritising defence and dropping creative players to do that.
Or he could (and probably was) just a flash in the pan.

You did, you said the evidence is not fit for purpose.

:Face-palm: ....Because (now buckle up!) depsite how you presented it does NOT vindicate your "Told you so attitude".

So you talk about VDV and it's relevant but when I talk about him it's drifting?

Are you trolling? Must be.......

VDV was an example of a transfer with injury risk attached and how that affects one's pricetag in the trf market..... Your subsequent rambling about Soldado, Bentley, Pav or whoever the fuck else brought nothing to the discussion. (Apart from your incidental mention of Lamela which actually contradicts your rhetoric, but you quickly glossed over that in favour of more meta-shite.)

I'm having an exchange with you though

:shrugs:

Maybe they do or maybe they aren't prepared to splash the money to challenge the other top 3.

It's these "maybe's" why the "I told you so" stance of your OG post has not been vindicated by an article which paints a picture to that which you want it to.

Please say you're done.... You wrung any semblance of life out this matter a number of posts ago now.

Cantwell looked promising a couple of seasons ago but not kicked on at all. Wasnt even that special in the championship last season, not even been getting in the Norwich team much this season and almost 24 so not like he's an up and coming youngster. Its the Sun so likely bollocks, certainly hope so.

I reckon the THFC committee have seen how many fairly average British players have gone to Italy recently and got a bit wide eyed.
Ramsey, Mainland Niles, Abrahams, Smalling, Young.
They probably think we can shift all our deadwood over to Serie A and replace them with better players.

How many weeks of failing to do so before they realise it won't work?

Can we get digne on loan with option to buy. Can he play lcb/fb/LWB?
Davies is ok with 3 really is not physical or quick enough. I’ve seen digne play last season and he does motor down the flank.
Would be a good addition and proven PL experience.
As someone saud here lwb is probably the least of our concerns at the moment. We need to spend that 30 mil eksewhere at the moment. Dont think digne is tall enough for lcb

I cant stand the guy, but will admit he’d elevate the team.

What's the beef with Digne?

I like the player, but not sure why we'd opt for him as a CB though..... Yeh, Everton have played him for a few games in an emergency, but it would negate the attacking end of his game which his strength.

It would only be a make-shift (when Ben is doing ok) and peeps would understandably still want a specialist LCB in the summer.

....Again, I thought people wanted more attacking product from our FBs?

As far as I could see the only point in buying him is if we'd decided to bin Sessengon off cos he can't be relied upon to stay fit (in which case he'd be a damn good solution).
