He's not a starter for sure. Just right now only Skipp is a good starter in our midfield so Winks kind of gets it by default. Though I'm sure Hojbjerg will still start because Conte likes him. If we can bring in a new MF, I would be happy to see Winks as a backup option.

I can't see how Tanganga is in over Sanchez. Sanchez has been very good on the right of a back three, just don't put him in the middle. Tanganga was responsible for the last 3 goals we have allowed.
I thought of a 3-5-2 with Lo Celso starting since Son is hurt but I don't see Conte changing it. I still have Winks over Hojbjerg though. Hojbjerg kills every attack and is too slow against most teams in defense.
Hjobjerg is certainly not close to my ideal choice for a starter but he can at least contribute from a ball winning and pressing aspect. Winks offers nothing positive.
I don't think Sanchez has been great. Better than Dier but I agree I don't like the fit with him in the Center and Conte seems to have a crush on Dier so he will play no matter what.
I think of Hojbjerg like you think of Winks. Winks is a better attacking threat than Hojbjerg, nearly doubles his goal and shot creating actions per 90. His through balls alone would have won us the Southampton match if not for a bullshit offside call. He made the pass for Son's penalty and the Kane goal that was ruled out.
Winks also has more interceptions and tackles per 90 than Hojbjerg. I think he's overlooked because of how shit he was before but under Conte he has been one of our better midfielders.
Winks and PEH both offer us nothing going forward.
Ideally neither of them start for us but we have very little option with Tanguy deciding he has no interest in playing for us.
We need 2 midfield signings if Conte ever switches to a 352. I would be happy to see Kessie come in this January since he looks to be our best possible deal we can do.
I think we need at least 2 midfield signings no matter what. Skipp is the only midfield player good enough to start and even he is still young and learning.
If we stick with the stupid 3-4-3 then we need a new MF starter and a RW starter.
So either way two new starters at least not even considering the RWB and CB additions we need.

Not too bad today. Not great either, but not the worse of our midfielders. I’ve been critical of him in the past and for ages had him at the top of my list of players to move on, but he’s earned himself a little more time. I think Dele, Ndombele and Lo Celso need to go first.
PEH seems out of form at the moment so I wouldn’t mind seeing Winks partnered with Skipp against the Chavs on Wednesday.
