Ex-Spurs Player Harry Winks

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Did you decide that because that you were replying to ignorulamus you would operate at the same pathetic level of footballing ignorance - or do you stand by that banal assessment?

Charming to the last....

- Did I think the MF as a collective functioned poorly? Yes.
- Is Skip the only MF that we have where upon I have complete confidence in him in the biggest of games? Yes.
- Does this mean I will suddenly lower myself to calling Harry & PEH "wanks" & "shit-berg" and not acknowledge when I believe them to have played well? No.
- Do I have any semblance of trust that the remaining 3 will deliver a performance against even the weakest of opposition? No.

Thanks for your enquiry. :tanguythumb:

Skipp is a amore one dimensional player, in that he is a disruptive and defensive MF, Winks - on point, is a far more mobile and creative unit.

I appreciate you aren't one of the moronic name callers, or igula or crapcase level of footballing ignorance, but to summarily dismiss Winks in that manner smacks of pandering to the lowest common denominator, or that you genuinely can't tell the difference between a good player and an ordinary one.
See your last line above for details.

In their respective roles I feel Skipp is more reliable. If you feel the opposite, c'est la vie.

I didn't "dismiss" Winks or PEH..... I just think their game-to-game performance level is more erratic than Skipp..... Which in turn leads me to trust them less.

See your last line above for details.

The last line alludes to TN, GLC & Dele.... "Three".

The good version of Winks that has suddenly reappeared is a better passer than Skipp but he’s not more mobile.

Skipp will take players on with a dribble when he gets his mojo going, that’s not Winks’ game.

He's also more physical, better at tackling, better at tracking players and generally more of a presence.......

Skipp will become a more well-rounded player than Winks in time; he may be so already.

Oh absolutely, I’d take the Skipp we already have over the rejuvenated Winks, as would Conte.

Good to have both of them for HGP purposes and also with Skipp being a prodigious collector of yellow cards.

My apologies then, I read it as dismissive of Winks, whose performances have been very much on the up.

It's my belief that the pair of them together would be better than Skipp and PEH

If we put Traore out on the right flank I’d probably feel better about Winks tucked in next to him than PEH. Unless and until Winks turns back into a non-entity.
As long as people stop trying to use him as a DM, which clearly doesn't stoke his fire (Nuno and Jose) but use him where he's best suited, I'm sure all we will see is him get better and back to the level he was at under Poch

He's never going to be a Modric or Gazza, but he will be a good Winky

Poch started the Winks as DM fallacy with the shitty diamond.

That's when the forward-looking OG winks began to disappear.

Is Winks our best free kick option? Should he take corners as well? I mean, no one else seems to have a clue. Because I feel like I'm going insane... I mean no right? or yes?

No one else seems to have any clue either. Why the hell not.

Winks' big problem is being flustered when pressed and giving the ball away. Theres not pressure on freekicks and corners. He knows how to play a decent long ball. As much as we shouldnt play him in the first place , if hes on the pitch, he might as well do the things he could be good at.

MOTM display included great corner kicks and of course the excellent goal he scored.
As well as great passing in open play.
Why can't some celebrate that instead of sneering at it?
Oh, well.

Well said:

He’s been good in the last couple of weeks. Really impressed with how dynamic his passing has become + he seems more aggressive and authoritative.

Considering he’s a Spurs lad , I find the criticism he gets utterly bizarre
