Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I said nominally, however you rate his actual ability, swapping him for a defender is removing an attacking player and adding a defensive one to the squad.

Given our already dire offensive options we should be getting him out and recruiting an attacking player who can actually contribute goals and assists.

I guess the brain trust in charge feel that our attack will be revolutionised by the (possible) signing of a juiced up sprinter to play at right back though. Yippee.

He offers nothing as an attacker. Winks, Skipp, even PEH offer as much and don't piss off halfway around the world at the drop of a hat and come back injured.

Harry Redknapp mentioned in an interview that Levy loves deadline day.

As it's a 2 week break will continue to reserve judgement until February 1st.

But after February 1st, I suspect that a large portion of the fan base will be basing their lingering support of ENIC on the success of these final few days.

Conte has been pretty transparent, anything but additions will already be the first step to disappointing a top 3 manager in the world.

For us yes, for Conte we'll see. I reckon he'll want players at least near the start of pre season to drill them in what he wants.
I meant us fans should chill now, brew in June and boil over by in August.
August is when Conte will erupt and leave.
Then Levy will try and find another no-name coach to take up the "project" and try to get the best out of the same shite.

Because he was a desperate last minute 10th choice manager who we had in place while no one better was available and then immediately sacked when the going got a bit tough and Conte could come. Not hard to imagine why the club wouldn't give financial backing to the head coach in that situation, is it?

Don't know why you find this so hard to believe. Poch spoke a LOT about how little input he had in transfers, until he gained a lot of credit with the club and got his way with Ndombele/GLC. Nuno had no such credit in the bank.
I thought you 2 were discussing Conte not Nuno?

And yet, we don't do many deadline day deals if you look back.

I have not seen VY get anything right otherwise has Connor Coady been playing for us all season and I have not noticed.

He has been giving ITK for years - starting with the old 606 forums, and a lot has been right. I'm not one to usually defend ITKS but he is legit. Things do change quickly - transfer wise.

So you can watch your sarcastic tone with me, son, because I am not in the fucking mood. Don't bother replying unless its with apology.

Hes not anything. Cant play 6, 8, 10, 7 or 11.

If we can get a good defender and cross that off the list its a good deal.
Can't agree, seeing as we're more strict on the one in one out than Faces at full capacity on a balmy Saturday night circa 2013, if we do that then we all know there is no chance of his place in the squad being filled.

I'd sooner keep hold of him and clutch all the straws that he might come good, than get rid for the sake of adding another defender.

Last summer we got rid of Lamela, Bale and Vinicius from the squad and replaced them with Gil, none of the three were exactly nailed on first teamers so not a huge negative impact many thought, well now we have literally 2 players with a track record of scoring goals. One is and always has been streaky af, and the other has well and truly done an Eriksen and lost his mojo.

We can't keep just keep selling off our attacking players and not replacing them, however shite they may be.

Ah yes, get rid of a creative midfielder (nominally, ignore the fact that it's GLC...) and replace with a defender, just what this squad needs...

Could somebody please fill me in on where exactly our squad is stacked? Because we have a dearth of attacking/creative players, a dearth of wide players, a dearth of defenders apparently, and seemingly only 3 serviceable centre midfielders.

We have a full squad so there must be one position that we are well covered for? You can't even say we're well stocked at keeper, because beyond Hugo we're absolute trash in that department too.

How the fuck has so much money been spent on a squad so blatantly lacking in almost every sense? We've had one fucking striker for what seems like centuries for crying out loud!

Why would we care about losing a shit player who never plays? If we can trade a player who offers nothing for a player offers something, then do it.

We have to take whatever we can get for a player like Lo Celso.

He won't come good. Ever. We need players like him and TND out ASAP regardless as to incomings.
Those kind of players belong in weaker leagues for mid table teams where they came from.

I'm not saying I want to keep him, I'm saying swapping him for a defender will be a stupid move based on how incompetent we all know the club to be in the transfer market, if he's going he needs to be replaced by an attacking player capable of providing what we hope he would have done.

Don't tell me you have any faith that the club would swap him for a defender and sort the attacking department out later on? If we did that, and then Vlahovic suddenly became available for £5m, Levy would drag his feet trying to sell off Doherty/Tanganga/Rodon or whoever before greenlighting the purchase.

The paradox but never let facts get in the way.

January is notoriously more difficult to get meaningful stuff done so some balance had to be applied.

But Conte is doing what none of our previous manager a has done and making a clear stand.

I have zero idea what Levy and the Board think of him but we can't get a bigger grade manager than him, and if he walks or leaves because he has not been backed, it would be backward steps.

If we get 2/3 players that he is happy with this month I think he will stay beyond the 2024/5 season.

We will soon see.

Sky Sports just put up a graphic of 11 players, a full team, we could sell off.

Gollini
Tanganga Rodon CCV Doherty
GLC Dele TND Clarke
Berg Gil

Shocking, utterly shocking recruitment. And yet people screaming and yelling we have to just buy more.
I don't want another 11 shit players.

We won't sign anyone with all these donkies clogging up the squad. Especially with very strict loan rules coming into play soon.
Get them out, get them off the books, and use their space as motivation to recruit better.
They offer absolutely nothing to the squad. We would do no worse with any old kid from the academy.
